Storen has control and secondary pitches but he throws darn hard.

All of the guys you mentioned outside of Storen are out of options, and can't be sent down.

I didn't realize that, so mea culpa.  Since it was only a five-pager, I thought it was started today or yesterday.  My bad.

No worries, honest mistake.  You definitely wouldn't be the first person who didn't read threads or check timestamps here, and you won't be the last

I could rephrase that as such: We just lost a key hitter in our lineup whose production will most likely be replaced by Nyjer Morgan (Bernadina to left) in return for an erratic reliever and a 25 year old CF who struggled in AAA. Clearly a terrible deal, right?

You've heard of Michael Morse, right?

No, that's not our backup catcher anymore.

It is definitely frustrating knowing that we could have given the Astros a better trade package.  But if Storen was required to acquire Bourn, I'm glad we stayed away.

In other words, props to Rizzo.

How do you know that? Maybe Rizzo offered a better package - but Houston preferred Oberholtzer and Shafer etc.

From what we do know, it looks like the Nats front office thought Span was a better player than Bourn.  And that's crazy.

I'm on the bus now.

Failed at acquiring a single piece to help the MLB team. Could have had Span but refused to give up a reliever.

Have fun with your draft picks Mike... the way you run the MLB team, you're ensuring yourself of high picks for years to come.

You know, I'm kind of indifferent about the Span thing

But if the deal wasn't going to happen, why the freak didn't he go after Bourn?

He's so pathetically amateur as a GM that it's disgusting.  I wish I could be that much of a buffoon and have a great job like Mike Rizzo does.

We have to go 8-47 to reach the record you predicted for this season. ;)

I am a little surprised we haven't had a good photoshop of this guy. Granted he'd likely be grasping a beef sausage and wearing a Natinals jersey.

I'm kind of back and forth on him.

On the one hand, seriously, how do you not get Bourn? The Braves gave up 3/4/5 type starters, a first baseman that will never see the majors, and a reliever that will be middle relief. How can we not match that?

On the other hand, good job telling the Twins to pound sand. Seriously, no way is Span worth Storen, Bernadina and Lombardozzi

I was gone all day, but I thought the hang up was over Lombo? I would have been on this bus if he had traded Storen and Lombo.
