Maybe it's just the one in my location but I was totally underwhelmed by Trader Joes.  Kind of impossible to appreciate what the place has to offer when it's stuffed to the gills with people and carts and there isn't nearly enough space for orderly lines to form at the registers.

Sounds like Costco in Gaithersburg.

Still better than Walmart though, where there are 40 registers but only 3 are open :smh:

Costco in Gaithersburg is the 3rd busiest in the country, behind Pentagon City and NYC. My wife nearly had a panic attack there. Beltsville is so much more laid back (as far as Costco can get laid back).

Yeah I could never shop at a place like that.  I would probably rage out and hockey check somebody :-[

In my old apartment, you could see the costco parking lot in pentagon city, never ceased to amaze me how people from DC would come in and buy thousands worth of bulk groceries. I used to get looks when I would stop by on my way home and buy a single bottle of wine

Ugh, freak you all.  I already have to drive far enough to get to the nearest Whole Foods, and I don't even want to know how far it'd be to get to Wegmans.

WTF, I had no idea it was there. I've been that way a thousand times, but apparently it's in a shopping center off 202 right before the beltway that's hidden by a bunch of trees. :|

I missed that. I look for it next time, thanks.

When I did the online search it said Sterling was the closest store to me. Mileage wise by me taking the ferry Leesburg was closer.

Ah, the ferry, forgot about that.

Our Wegmans, and Whole Foods, are pretty close together, though you could get hammered if you had one drink in each stopping place inside the stores.

Emeril Lagasse films portions of his cooking shows at the Whole Foods, but when it was time to celebrate conclusion of another season, he and the crew adjourned to Captain Pell's Fairfax Crabhouse, which is about as downscale as it gets.

Cool!  A friend of mine works for Giant and would sooo like to leave to another company.  Wegmans has been in Washingtonian magazine as one of the best places to work!

Just got back from Wegmans.

Hot.damn.

PANats was totally right - Wegmans is definitely better than Whole Foods.  Not only are the produce and seafood better, but the prices are great!  I was blown away.

Um, not sure.  Captain Pell's has been around decades but in another location for quite a while, so it's entirely possible.

I didn't know Weis still existed.  When mine became a Super Q Mart or some nonsense I thought they were gone for good.

No way.

It has to be.  PANats says it is.  He is now the god of grocery stores.  I have deemed it so.
