I BELIEVE Bob's Big Boy is different than Big Boy, but I have no proof, only mindfacts.
Big Boy is also Bob's Big Boy with the same menu -it's the same restaurant...they all have that hamburger with their special dressing (we all know it is 1000 island),etc., and that breakfast bar that is great.
Also there is a Roy Rodgers in Alexandria, by Beacon Hill, Mount Vernon location- I hit that place when I get hungry for their hamburger that has the ham, cheese, and bacon on it (forget the name of it, at the moment)-it's addictive; there is also one up by Walter Reed Hospital in DC, that I use to hit all the time for their Roast Beef & Cheese sandwiches.   :yesyes:

A friend forwarded this to me...it seems that SF is going the extra mile against McD's:
------------------
From the Irish Times:

San Francisco has become the first major US city to pass a law that
cracks down on the popular practice of giving away free toys with fast
food restaurant meals for children.

San Francisco's Board of Supervisors passed the law last night on a
veto-proof 8-to-3 vote. It takes effect on December 1st.

The law, like an ordinance passed earlier this year in nearby Santa
Clara County, would require that restaurant kids' meals meet certain
nutritional standards before they could be sold with toys.

Opponents of the law include the National Restaurant Association and
McDonald's Corp, which used its now wildly popular Happy Meal to
pioneer the use of free toys to market directly to children.

"We are extremely disappointed with today's decision. It's not what
our customers want, nor is it something they asked for," McDonald's
spokeswoman Danya Proud said in a statement. "Getting a toy with a
kid's meal is just one part of a fun, family experience at
McDonald's.”

The San Francisco law would allow toys to be given away with kids'
meals that have less than 600 calories, contain fruits and vegetables,
and include beverages without excessive fat or sugar.

Backers of the ordinance say it aims to promote healthy eating habits
while combating childhood obesity.

"Our children are sick. Rates of obesity in San Francisco are
disturbingly high, especially among children of colour," said San
Francisco Supervisor Eric Mar, who sponsored the measure. "This is a
challenge to the restaurant industry to think about children's health
first and join the wide range of local restaurants that have already
made this commitment.”

Some 15 per cent of American children are overweight or obese - which
puts them at risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and cancer,
according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In
some states, the childhood obesity rate is over 30 per cent.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest this summer threatened
to sue McDonald's if it did not stop using Happy Meal toys to lure
children into its restaurants. A lawyer for that group said it is on
track to file the lawsuit in the next several weeks.

McDonald's debuted the Happy Meal in the United States in 1979.

In 2006, the latest year for which data is available, fast-food
companies led by McDonald's spent more than $520 million on
advertising and toys to promote meals for children, according to a US
Federal Trade Commission report.

When the efforts of other food and beverage companies were included,
promotional spending aimed at children topped $1.6 billion.

What people don't get is this is not Pelosi and Obama, this is the local government of San Francisco. Move to San Jose if you don't like it. I wish people were better educated.

Yeah, I'm generally not a fan of the nanny state, but juvenile diabetes is a public health emergency in a number of American cities, and the golden arches carry a fair bit of the blame.

Now that national healthcare that is paid for by the haves on behalf of the have-nots, father healthcare is going to be getting into our shorts on everything.  Can't wait.  Though this is more of a local issue this time.  It really sounds more like a nice chance to tweak a corporate goliath for being overly successful.

You're kidding right? The parent's are to blame, not McD's. My parent's let me eat there when I was little, but not a lot. Know why? Because they were smart enough to know it wasn't all that healthy. Parent's really need to step up to the plate and start taking the blame. Sick of seeing business screwed over by parents, because they don't want to, you know... BE A PARENT.

If that were happening, that's one thing. I see it a million times a day where it isn't. It's also a huge problem for schools when kids aren't getting the support they need at home. Schools are left to be caretakers and disciplinarians sometimes before educators. I agree it's the parents' job to look out for the well being of their kids, but for ignorant or or absentee parents there need to be some safeguards for kids to be healthy and safe. Wooing kids to crap food with toys is pretty much predatory, IMHO.

The problem is that a lot of parents just plain don't KNOW. They don't know to read to their kids every night (they may not be able to read). They don't know how to eat healthy themselves. They don't know that children need more than 8 hours of sleep. Investing in parental education classes would be a wise choice for the nation. It's not that these people are stupid, far from it. It's just that no one taught them and they are far too busy to question what they are doing.

Jewish cuisine is kinda weird.  First the jellied fish, now pixie stix / crisco emulsions?

That's cause Pixie Stix and Dr. Browns celery soda don't mix.

There's a woman I've seen on several occasions smoking crack in the alley while her young child watches.  I doubt that she knows or even cares what her kid eats.  But I also doubt that the kid gets any of her crack money for McDonalds, so maybe it's a wash.

I remember Mama's Pixie stix / crisco emulsion.    Nana made it with chicken fat and pixie stix, but Mama was more Americanized.  That and some herring and sour cream got me through 5th grade.

Look, that is true for many people. But a lot of people who work 2, even 3 jobs just need a little bit of knowledge and a push in the right direction.
