I figured it was a movie or something I hadn't seen. It's a big weakness in my cultural repertoire, my lack of movie depth.

Agreed. I'll bet it gets aired on cable TV during the playoffs. It's a classic comedy about the last place Cleveland Indians (sound familiar?), comprised of priceless, misfit, oddball characters who pull together to pursue the pennant. Dennis Haysbert, who I think was the president on TV's 24, plays this hilarious African who believes in voodoo-type superstitions. "F--- you Jobu, I do it myself!"
