Storen is fine.

That game sucked, though.

I think I gotta bail out of this ride.   The Nats are killin' me.    Interesting what Riggs will say.

This is why I thought drafting a reliever at #10 was so dumb. You can find cheap effective relievers all the time.

This. Peralta & Slaten are perfect examples of that.

They should be closing.

Storen is 23. Do you really think this is as good as he will ever be? If he tops out or comes close to his potential, he'll be worth the high draft pick.

No he won't. What is his potential? A little better than Matt Capps. That is not worth a top 10 pick especially when you can draft a #2-3 starter. He won't ever be a Rivera/Nathan/Broxton type. Other than a few elite closers, most closers are easily replaceable.

WTF.  We lost?  I don't know why everyone loves Storen.  I don't see where he's done anything special this year.

Will we win another game this year?  Or will we lose 100 yet again?  Ugh.

Riggleman's loss as well as Storen's. It was obvious after three consecutive hits that Storen had nothing.

With the Orioles come-from-behind win, the Nats are only 3 games up on the Os.

Storen is fine.

Not as a closer, at least not now.  That doesn't make him worthless.  Closing just isn't the proper role for him, now, in his career.

Right now, he's Hanrahanesque as a closer.

My dog is sick and crapped all over the carpet, blown save, and I bet the SKins choke.

Perfectly bad day.

The way things are going this team will end up with another top 3 pick this season and the birds will probably end up winning more games than the Nats.

My kid learned to roll over on to his back, it was a narrow save. Otherwise it was :spaz:

The guy above who said I bet the Skins choke was very prophetic. What a lousy day to be a Washington fan. :(

Thankfully I didn't even waste my time with this team today. I figure going to nine of the next ten games, with no off days, is enough of this crap to last me the offseason. But, look at the fan graphs chart for this game... What a joke, you don't often see a laugher like this:

Oh, that really helps the old fella  :)   I still use a slide rule.    Looks like my EKG during the game.

It's a visual representation of how each event in the baseball game affected the probability that the Phillies would win.  As you can see, it starts at .500 (anyone's game).  As the Phillies got men on base / scored runs, the meter drifted towards them.    With Morse's home run, the meter suddenly turns sharply back towards the Nats, where it remains until the bottom of the ninth, where it sits at around ~5% (i.e. 95% probability that the Nats will win) when Storen steps to the mound.  After that it is one long, dizzying slope of improbable events and the Nats lose.  The probabilities, by the way, are based on tens of thousands of baseball games and how each situation in those games, in each inning, was related to the probability that the home team won.  It is all hard maths and science.
