''Everything I threw, they hit it,'' Ortiz said. ''It's a crazy game. Tonight, I felt good. I threw good pitches.''

Ortiz has allowed 12 runs in 11 1-3 innings in consecutive losses since taking a no-hitter into the ninth inning in a 4-1 win over St. Louis on Sept. 4. He is 1-4 with a 8.10 ERA in seven career starts against the Braves - his second-highest ERA against any team.

In four starts against Atlanta this season, the right-hander is 1-2 with a 7.54 ERA.

The Braves counter with Lance Cormier (3-5, 5.23), who allowed six runs - four earned - and six hits in two innings of Friday's 6-4 loss to the Florida Marlins - his shortest start of the season. Cormier, who has also made 20 relief appearances, has gone 1-4 with a 4.71 ERA in seven starts this year.

The left-hander is 2-3 with a 9.00 ERA in seven career appearances, including two starts, against the Nationals.

Wow, Soriano with an opposite field base hit.  Could it be that he didn't swing for the fences?

Greetings, all.  Afraid I can't stick around for too long - gotta meet with my colleagues in a law school group I participate in.  But I'll kick it as long as I can.

EDIT: Great, F-LOP double play.  Nothing to kill the soul quite like one of those.

Just taking one game off, and he's back hitting the ball hard.  Why doesn't Frank give some of these guys a rest every few weeks?

That's 19 HR for Ryan.  20 would really help his ROY support.

That's some major disconnect there, Chief.  Shame F-Lop had to erase the baserunners with that GIDP...otherwise Ryan would've cracked 100 RBIs on that hit.

Yeah, blame Comcast.  I mean I'm sure I was vaguely aware of his other homers due to the gameday threads but things just don't stand out as clearly in your memory when you can't actually watch the games or hear them on the radio (107.7FM and 1500AM both *barely* come in up here)

Ortiz is dreadful.. He insists on putting runners on for Chipper and Andruw and he always pitches from behind to dangerous hitters which equals serious damage

4-1.. Ortiz is truly the pits.  3 more 2 out runs.  Everyone else that thinks we should bring him back to be our #3-4 are completely crazy

Did anyone catch Cold Pizza on ESPN2 this morning.  Dan Uggla was one of the guest (the Marlins are in NY playing the Mets) and according to the host, Jay Crawford (who is a real pr*ck, btw), the Rookie of the Year race is already over.  Dan Uggla, according to Crawford, is far and away, clearly the best rookie in the National League.  He asked Uggla, if he didn't vote for himself, who would he vote for.  Uggla hemmed and hawed, saying there are a lot of good rookies in the National League, ignoring the prompts from Crawford to say he'd vote for himself.

It was pretty much a disgusting spectacle.  He was practically fellating Uggla on the set!

Edit: ...that spectacle though only slightly more disgusting than that Ortiz pitch to McCann!!!

Yeah I saw that dude. I don't like that crawford idiot either. He is an ass kisser if there ever was one. If Zimmerman had been there he would've done the same for him.

I see having Ortiz in the rotation as a 4-5 starter as a horrible thing. Escpecially if the ones in front of him are any where near respectable. It could be worse...i.e. o'connor, traber, bergman
