Watching the Nats is just fascinating. It is amazing how many times I see things I have never seen before. Giving up a run in an inning without yielding a hit or an error. Walk, walk, balk, balk. That's a new one.

It sounds weird to say this... but maybe Maya shouldn't throw a fastball.

His offspeed pitches seem to generate a lot of swing and misses.

Every nonknuckleballer's best pitch is his fastball, as it sets up the offspeed stuff.  You know this.

I'd venture to say Trevor Hoffman disagrees with you.

The exception that proves the rule.  And he isn't a starter.

At what point is calling Maya a bust, not premature?

When he is pitching without that crazy blister.

I'm not saying he's a bust.  There has to be a measure, a metric, to determine whether he's a bust or not.  I just asked what that is.

I certainly wouldn't say it's two starts.

This offense is pathetic.  And Maya sucks.  Lerner's spending money on bums like Maya and not Dunn baffles my mind.

to be fair, Maya isn't used to pitching without a cigar break between innings.

Again, Maya does a damn good job... Except for one inning. I don't care what anyone says, someone who can shut down teams totally 5/6 innings, and that one inning clearly due to nerves? The guy wasn't in the minors long enough. He clearly isn't adjusted to pitching in the majors and is still ridiculously anxious. I'll take a pitcher that's dominant 5/6 innings his first two starts any day of the week. I think Maya has shown he can be what he was hyped to be, if he can get over the nerves and other kinks.

Isn't this guy supposed to be 29 and have won the Cuban equivalent of the Cy Young award?  Wasn't the big selling point on Maya that he was major league ready and didn't need much seasoning?  One swallow doesn't make a summer but I think there's a reason the Nats got him instead of the other clubs.  From what we've seen so far he looks like another overhyped and overpaid bum.

The 2 balks in the same inning was odd.  Let him pitch some and then start him up fresh next year.  What else can the Nationals do, right?

we're in the ninth inning and haven't made it to page 3 yet.  This team doesn't seem to care, nor do the fans anymore.

The strasburg-mania was fun while it lasted....
