Good luck to Beltran Perez on his first big-league start

Nationals 9
Braves 2
Game 2, FINAL

Beltran Perez
0-0, 1.59

Chuck James
10-3, 3.33

Lineups:

Washington
LF Soriano
SS Lopez
3B Zimmerman
1B Johnson
RF Kearns
2B Vidro
C Harper
CF Logan
P Perez

Milwaukee
2B Giles
SS Renteria
3B Jones
CF Jones
C McCann
RF Francouer
1B LaRoche
LF Langerhans
P James

Game Preview:

James (10-3, 3.33 ERA) hasn't lost since Aug. 4, when he gave up four runs in 5 1-3 innings against Cincinnati, and has a 1.73 ERA in his last eight starts. He is one of just two Atlanta starters with an ERA below 4.40.

''It's easy to say Tom Glavine ,'' Atlanta manager Cox said when asked to compare the rookie to a left-hander who helped anchor one of baseball's best rotations from 1991-2002. ''(James is) probably not as smooth and deliberate as Tom, but he's more violent. Both are deceptive. He can turn it up.''

James gave up five hits while striking out seven in seven scoreless innings of a 4-1 win over Philadelphia on Thursday. The left-hander is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts against the Nationals.

Beltran Perez (0-0, 1.59 ERA) will be making his first start for the Nationals after five relief appearances. The rookie right-hander has given up five hits and walked four in 5 2-3 innings. This will be his first game against the Braves.

Oh my GOD!  I think Frank is losing it.  The NATS are playing without a second baseman!

Vidro is playing 2nd and hitting 6th.  We will be in a struggle to score runs again tonight.  Chuck James has been on fire lately and I believe he has beat us atleast once this year.  It will be interesting to see how Perez does against a very potent Braves lineup.

just hope to see a good ballgame...playoff chances for both baseball and football are done in this city.  Have to stick to NCAA again this year.

*watching*

MASN hasn't been that bad today.  was fun seeing whats-her-face get reamed by a disgruntled Orioles fan on the Radio, when she was talking about that little Protest thing they are doing.

he owned her so bad that they had to cut to commercial. hehe.

Yes the redskins are playing freaking awful but they are only 1 game back with 14 games to go.

James hasn't thrown a pitch over 88-89 and we are acting like he is throwing it 100+ mph.. Looks like it is going to be another long night

Zimmerman's first two swings make it seems like James is blowing 100+ MPH fastballs by him

yeah...doing pretty good.  One of the advantages we have with all these minor league pitchers.  There's not much scouting reports on them.  Problem is...once major league hitters get a bead on them...look out.

according to whimpee, this James guy has pretty much had his way with righties, but lefties have been beating him up all season.

LOL, three walks to get to Fonzie, including walking the pitcher on four balls.
