IIRC, he was one of those pitchers who had peripherals better than his ERA, had screwy BABIP numbers, etc. . .  I was all for dumping him, he exhausted my patience, so I'm not saying the bounce back does not surprise me, but there were some SABR types who would not be shocked by his improvement.

I'll bet his numbers blow up sky high again if you take him out of Pittsburgh and put him in any even remotely high-pressure city.  Just my take.

Oh I know, I was more or less agreeing with you.  Hanrahan has talent, no doubt about that.  But by all accounts he's dumber than a box of rocks, and mental to boot.
