F that, I'll be at that game. Sweet, we'll field the all defense squad behind Strasburg and Nieves will contribute +2 Royals runs and -1 Nats run and we'll lose 3-0. In 40 years I'll get to tell my grandchildren I saw Stephen Strasburg's first loss.  :hang: :whip:

It's not like you can get an "own goal" in baseball, although Wil has tried.

In the last five games, the #Nats have scored 11 runs and struck out 51 times.

I like Martin's attitude. "I will put the ball where you cannot hit it."

Why do we have Morgan and Guzman batting 1-2?
Time to try Bernadina/Desmond at 1/2.

See, you should be manager. Man, I like watching Desmond hit!

I know it's a tough pill to swallow after last night's loss, but the offense is not what is holding this team back, nor is the pen.  The big hole is in the rotation.  A lot of bats are slumping at the same time right now.  It's baseball, it happens.  Our offense is right around league average in almost every category.  Get a real RFer, plug Bernadina in center, pick up an average second catcher, and we're in great shape.  As much as people obsess over 2B, it's really not a huge position of need for us offensively right now.  Let Kennedy or some other defensively-minded warm body fill that spot.

Pitching pitching pitching pitching pitching.
yep, yep, yep. And patience when filling holes like CF and RF. It's hard to believe people are giving up on Morgan and it's not even July.

Morgan's little tantrum has made many of us wary of his abilities.

I agree, time for the Desmond/Bernadina duo at the top of the order. Guzman should be batting at the bottom, if at all with Morgan. I think Zimmy needs a day or two off and Lannan needs sent down to AAA until he can figure out how to get runners out, that or get him ready to come out of the pen.
The most frustrating part is when we get excellent pitching, like Friday and Saturday, we can't get a run for love nor money. Yet when we are able to score some runs, we get the worst pitching you can imagine. Can you say snake-bit?

Zimmerman needs a day off. It sucks because it makes our lineup potentially worse but hes been sucking.

Morgan - CF
Bernadina - RF
Guzman - 3b
Dunn - 1b
Willingham - LF
Pudge - C
Kennedy - 2b
Desmond - SS
Pitcher

or put Willingham 3rd, Pudge 5th than Guzman 6th... Dunno. That is if we sit Zimmerman. Send Lannan down for a bit. I hope everything works out. This is getting rather annoying.

Gonzalez or Kennedy would be the 3B if Zim get's a blow.

I'm nervous we're not going to turn it around. Anything less than 70 wins would be a disappointment this year and I think we're going to end up around 65. We're in utter meltdown mode.

I think we need to face facts that unlike a week ago, it's no longer a piece here and there missing and keeping us from winning. There are almost no positives at this point, and I really don't know what to expect Riggleman to do. He's not making horrid choices costing us games. Some mistakes, sure, but when everything but the bullpen is failing horribly against godawful teams, at some point all you can do is throw your hands up.

My point is simply now it's no longer the same old "Morgan and Guz are costing us games." Now it's nearly everyone on the team, and until something turns around it seems illogical dissecting individual issues when it's an entire team losing games at this point.

The level of freefall that Zimmerman is in is incredibly disturbing.

What bothers me more is his attitude about it all. I sit the second row right where the batters walk down to the dugout, and he doesn't seem phased. Today I simply wasn't wasting my time on this team as hot as it was and burn up in the sun, and watched parts on tv. I saw him strikeout once and you could clearly see him say "wow" with a shrug. Get ****ing pissed off, throw **** at this point. Don't say wow with a half grin. I get he's known as a hard worker, but likewise I see a lot you don't see on camera and It seems to me he doesn't seem to care that much about his performance of late. Not a "doesn't show it in public" either, I mean he literally doesn't seem to care. That kind of mentality in the clubhouse could explain 80% of our recent tailspin.

What? I understand we don't want alot of these guys here because we should be better but why should Walker get a pass instead of Batista, or especially Burnett? I think Burnett has been better than the other 2. As for Lannan, if our rotation works out he definitely wont be in ours but Id still like to see him in our minor league system. (That is if we don't trade him for something good)

He has had slumps like this every season.

Zimmerman needs a day off. .

Over the last 14 days he's had two off days and one game in which he DH'd. We have Thursday off and he can DH another game this weekend if necessary. If he DH's a game in Baltimore that would be 3 off days and two DH days in 21 days. How many days off does a "face of the franchise" require?

I was thinking about his other slumps as I was typing that post and concluded that this one seems worse somehow.  Maybe because it's the one that's currently happening.  It's the one with the freshest stench, as it were.

30 games under .500 is where we're headed.  No chance we lose 100 but another last place finish for Lerner's ATM.
