I mean given our current roster, that is the lineup I would send out every day. Obviously Pudge would improve things.

Just grabbed section 111 for $8.  That's ridiculous.

Given our current roster?  I guess.  But it sure seems less than ideal.

Hah, so our ideal lineup is probably...

2B Dustin Pedroia
1B Mark Teixeira
LF Ryan Braun
C Joe Mauer
SS Hanley Ramirez
RF Andre Ethier
3B Ryan Zimmerman
CF Franklin Gutierrez
P Roy Halladay

Either Jose Batista in RF and the clean-up slot, or move Either to center and put Miguel Carberra in right.

Before the game begins, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr Mark Zuckerman, a class act who took my parody on the previous page in good humor and who, when I panickedly explained my choice of him as the fake journalist as a sign of his good reputation in Natstown, was genuinely grateful for the kind words. This isn't my first run-in with Mark, and he's always dealt with me with class and a sunny disposition.

(I ran the parody by him, but only after posting it.)

As much as I've had bad things to say about the Times, they had 2 of the best (and most fan-friendly) baseball writers around

I spoke to a guy earlier who said he bought seats about 20 rows up for 4 bucks - the handling/processing fees were more than the tickets

Good grief :smh:

Bad throw to 2nd by Nieves trying to catch Philips stealing.  Instead he goes to third.

So can someone clarify for me what would make a hypothetical run scored by Philips earned or unearned?

If it's an infield single, it would be unearned unless the next guy also got a hit. I think it's up to the official scorer's discretion, but you can't assume a guy will score from 2nd on a single.

Ryan Zimmerman was struck out on a pitch like that in SF.

They have a nice turnout I'd say. More than I expected, and people are still coming in.
