marquis struggled which was kinda expected ... hard to try and record outs when you're not getting the corners or top/bottom of strike zone.

I honestly think that umpires have a bias towards certain teams. I went to the Rockies vs. Phillies NLDS last year in Denver and some of the calls that went for the phillies against the rox were just ridiculous. That and the other bad calls during the playoffs last year.

The biggest problem the Nationals have will the Phillies is that they never believe the Nationals have a chance to beat them.  They always expect to beat the Nationals because they know, sooner or later, something like the 5th inning almost always happens.

They expect it.  >:(

If this keeps up, more Nats will get tossed in this series.

But right now, the Nats have too many easy outs in the lineup to go against a team like the Phils.

+1 makes us sound like sore losers, I know it gets old but at the end of the day it's the players on the field who decide the ball game not the umps no matter how many crappy calls we get.

the problem is a guy like Marquis needs to get the corners, we don't really have any power pitchers in the rotation

Off Topic....If the Twins make it back to the World Series, and they keep going into late October as they are now, those people gonna be sitting in that new stadium in parkas and North Face coats.

The way I look at it is, we're a bad team, and when we have 3-4 close calls go against us - especially calls that can decide runs - it just hurts us even more. That's why it's so frustrating for me.

Marquis WAS getting the corners according to the pitch track.  Umps weren't in a charitable mood today.
