If calling Livan "Orville Redenbacher" on my blog gets him to pitch like this-- I'm going to do it more often.

Gets a ground ball DP, but the 2B drops the flip from the SS... everyone safe.

Sadly I just know this must be the Nationals.  :?

Dibbs did not bring up this about Jose Rijo- Rijo used to work as a special assistant to general manager Jim Bowden of the Washington Nationals baseball team.[15] Starting in February 2009, he took a leave of absence from his position after it was discovered that one of Rijo's scouting finds, Dominican shortstop Esmailyn Gonzalez was actually named Carlos David Alvarez Lugo and was four years older than the Nationals believed when they signed him.[15] On February 25, Rijo was dismissed from the Nationals' organization and his Dominican baseball academy closed down.[16

Error on Davis.

So, none of these runs are counting.

It is exactly like when Judas let down Jesus.

If you're the manager, would you be tempted to pull Livan for a pinch runner here?

Who is Davis? Leonard Davis?

Livan has a live bat!

Guess that makes it a unanimous "no" to my question.  I wouldn't either.  Still feels like we're getting shafted somehow having to face the Phillies twice in a week.

Livan has thrown 77 pitches and could definitely throw 120. I say let him pitch a complete game, even if he runs into a bit of trouble - we have a 5-run cushion. We will need the bullpen in Philly.

Struck out the next guy on a curve looking.

7 K's through 4 IP.
OK thats 4 runs though in 4 innings- trade him and get another banjo hitting or injury prone RF for him

Yep.  That's why I wouldn't pull him.  The bullpen has been taxed the first few games, give them an off day if livan can go 9.

I really hope Desmond can improve with the glove, because he's awesome to watch otherwise.

The good news is Roy Halladay went today against the 'Stros, so we don't need to worry about him.

A shutout through 7 is impressive no matter how it was accomplished. Great freaking job by Livan today.
