I'm wondering what this does for Braden's catcher's career.  Powell has been up and down the past few years.  He's always been an offense first catcher. At the start of the year, he was sent down and Jake Fox was the backup to Suzuki. Powell only came up when Suzuki went down, and he has been playing less than Josh Donaldson lately.  Now, everyone is praising the game he called.  This may buy him a spot on the roster when Suzuki is back.

The image of Dallas Braden embracing his grandmother (who raised him after his mother died of cancer) after a perfect game on mother's day is what makes sports (especially baseball) so great.

Dallas Braden's grandmother is here and speaking to the press. She says, and I'm not joking, "Stick it, A-Rod." #Athletics

Absolutely epic.

A-Rod's rings > Braden's rings
Fixed.  If you wanted to use plurals, try this:

A-Rod's needles > Braden's.

A-Rod > Braden
And you could use plurals, too, for that.

Why are you hating on Braden after a perfect game?

But the whole point is that A-Rod asked, "what has he ever done".  Well, now, he has an answer for that.

Yeah, as much as I think A-rod is better than Braden, A-Rod was put in his place. Although, Braden did call him out. I guess it was warranted for the whole mound thing.

19th time in MLB history a shutout happened ... trust me I'm happy for him ... I'm just sticking up for my boy A-Rod.

Diamondbacks just lost again.

The "KFYM Must Eat a Hat" watch stands as follows:

Giants 18-12
Tigers 17-14
Nats 17-14
Reds 16-15
Diamondbacks 14-18

The hat will taste better if the Nats find a way to make the postseason.

I'm just hating on him as a person, not as a player. I gave him credit for his ring (singular).  And by plurals, I acknowledge he's done multiple things in the game. I just will not say he isn't a jerk, from trying to slap the ball out of Arroyo's glove going down the line on a dribbler, to the time he yelled at player for the blue jays when he was near him fielding a pop up, to this stupid stunt with Braden.  Just a pure jerk.  It's not a Yankee thing. I don't trash Jeter (maybe his defense), Pettitte, Mo, CC (maybe the waist line), Swisher, . . . I have a lot of respect for the Yankees players.  I don't like them as an entity, but I can honestly say that I like a heck of Yankee players.  Even with A-Rod, I don't say he's not an excellent player.  I just think he is a jerk.

Anyone keeping their eye on Austin "hit machine" Jackson?  The guy is batting .371 so far and is showing no signs of coming back to earth.  He has hit safely in 27 of 30 games.

Curtis who?

7. Please, somebody tell the networks: That the Red Sox stink. Yes, it was Yankees at Red Sox this weekend, and yes, the MLB Network, Fox and ESPN all rushed their cameras in place for national telecasting. By the time Saturday's game was finished, the Sox had been out-scored 24-6 in the first two games. I'd have watched anything -- even a rerun of the infernal Glee. At this pace, the Red Sox are going to have difficulty finishing ahead of rebuilding Toronto.

Yes, and they were on ESPN, MLB Network, or Fox for 5 out of their 7 games from Monday through Sunday.  I watched the other two in a bar.  Saw 5 wins and two disasters.

My guess is that they draw more viewers on cable in DC for their ESPN games than the Nats do on MASN on the same nights.
