I love it.  Lots of blowhards were cackling about how the Rays were a one-year wonder last year.  Nope, sorry folks, the Rays are running a first-class operation.

I have a few AL teams I root for and that's one of them.  It's nice to see a team that can stick it to the Woes and hang with the Yanks/Sawx.

Didn't hear a single person saying that.  Most thought they'd be really close to winning the AL East this year and that this is the end of their current window with Crawford likely being gone at the end of the year.

I heard a lot of so-called "baseball fans" saying that, mostly Yankee/Sawx fans (predictably).

I don't think crawford leaving closes their window. Their pitching is stacked at the majors and high minors

They have Desmond Jennings waiting n AAA he's widely regarded as one of the Top 5 prospects n the league so they have help on the way wen Craford leaves

the cubs are calling up prospect starling castro from AA.  D-bag Theriot is moving over to 2B.  LOL he's getting pushed aside for a 20-year old.

Also, they are looking for an excuse to play Desmond Jennings. They could let Crawford walk, get the NYY's first and a supplemental, take the cash and resign Pena for cheap, and go with Zobrist in RF.  Still need to think about how to replace and upgrade at DH.

But for rooting for an opponent in their division, I find it hard not to root for the team Sternberg / Friedman / Maddon put together.

edit - just saw GMU make the same point. also corrected "Strenberg."

But, Theriot plays the game the "right way"!

No offense but it's not like he owes you one or something.  We all have our inexplicable pet peeves and er...  pet peeve-ple?  What in hammonds' WNFF career leads you to believe that he even has a logical reason? :P

Haha yeah tell 'em Chief, I don't owe you crap Linty 8)

In today's HammondsNats dislikes this guy discussion, we're looking @ the NL Central ... here's my NL Central All-Hatred team:

Cubs: Carlos Zambrano (congrats you recorded your 2nd K in 5 IP while giving up 6 ER, keep pumping your fist) ... Ryan Theriot (no explination needed)

Pirates: Joel Hanrahan (ruined our 2008 and 09 seasons)

Reds: Johnny Gomes (fat loser)

Cardinals: nobody yet, but i'll find someone

Astros: Wandy Rodriguez (ugly douche) ... Hunter Pence (close your eyes dude, wow)

Brewers: Casey McGehee (actually really don't hate any Brewers either, but he's killed us recently).

I don't hate Theriot, but he's a very marginal major leaguer, just slightly better than replacement.  His reputation among certain segments is way better than his play on the field would support.

welcome to the majors Starlin Castro: 2-5, 3B, HR, 6RBI for the Cubs prospect in his debut.

Also, did anyone see the play in San Diego when the relay man nailed the SS in the butt with a throw?  Harold Reynolds was all over it tonight.

Literally looks like he's 12.

Also, the Braves have serious offensive issues.

woooowww, it looks like the Pirates are now taking over the "we umps must screw over this lowly franchise" role from the Nats

Joe Mather was on first base in the top of the 9th last night for the Cardinals, Ryan Doumit throws him out at second, and the ump calls him safe.

I've never seen a worse blown call at second.  Mather was so clearly out, and the ump blew it horribly.  What a freaking embarrassment.  How can these morons continue to keep their jobs considering how awful they are?  It's unbelievable.

Why were we being subjected to the Yankees-Red Sox?  Washington is an NL East city and there was a game between two NL East teams on Fox.

Probably due to ratings in this hard core NL East town rather than some conspiracy.
