Rizzo is gonna need to come up with some more creative financing.
Just give him Zimmermann and Desmond's money.

You have to trade him in the offseason at peak value.

he'll be what, 27 at the end of next year?  Yeah, he's getting 6/$180 million barring another major injury next year.

He pitches like this next year and he will get a better contract than Max.

Jim Salisbury        ✔ @JSalisburyCSN

Andres Blanco on Strasburg. 'Nolan Ryan. I saw that on TV when I was a kid. Whew.'

If only he could be packed in bubble wrap between starts.

Great start tonight.

Nobody on the Nats (except maybe for Harper when he's hot) is more fun to watch.

He did it to the Mets too the previous start.

When he's right he's ridiculous

(Image removed from quote.)

Great pic!  After reading the Blanco quote above, I wanted to say the pic reminded me of Nolan Ryan, but it actually looks a lot like a young Roger Clemens.  Hated him his whole career, but not a bad comparison for a right handed starter.

Check out his numbers since his return. I think he's now 6-2 and has allowed 14 earned runs in 61 innings (2.07 ERA) and struck out 74 batters since coming off the disabled list the first time in late June.

OD Starter for 2016

Interesting thought, but I don't think so. Maybe if he has a great spring and Max struggles, I guess it's possible.

For several years I advocated for Zimnn to be the OD starter over Strasburg and they never did ; simply because I thought that Zimnn earned it as the better pitcher with the  bull- doggish demeanor.. You certainly knew Scherzer would be it as the Lerners wanted to show off the biggest signing of a FA this past off-season. If SS continues his effectiveness for the remainder of his starts it would go a long way in helping us re-sign him and gives Max a subtle message.

His stuff is amazing. He needs to stay healthy and be consistent. His starts have been fairly predictable. After he recovers from an physical issue, he usually comes back strong. If it is a weak opponent and decent weather, he dominates. When it is hot and humid he tends to struggle more. If he could just remain healthy, he'd be what was advertised. Unfortunately, he has been in and out so much that it has delayed his development as a pitcher. He's still so inexperienced and has a lot to learn. But the stuff has always been there. Needs to throw the heat and not be in it.

He'll be going back to Cali.  The Padres will have $200M (7 yrs) with his name on it after the end of next season.

The only way he's going to the Padres is if he wants to be there so bad that he's willing to take a huge hit, as well as to fire his agent.  Yankees and Dodgers (and prbably several other teams) will way outbid the Padres.  The Padres embarrassed themselves severely  with all of their high profile acquisitions and then failing to produce (and compounding the embarrassment by making Bud Black the scapegoat.  I think they're going to go into player development mode for the next five or so years.

One of his best starts was last week  - it was 95 and muggy out, I think the weather thing is not accurate - he had the problem with the sun screen one time and that has carried over to today

Dominant Stras is the most fun player to watch. I just love watching him mow through guys like a knife through butter.
