So...he's worth $30MM / year?
Rizzo is gonna need to come up with some more creative financing.

Let's not get too excited. It was the Phillies.
He did it to the Mets too the previous start. When he's right he's ridiculous
OD Starter for 2016
Interesting thought, but I don't think so. Maybe if he has a great spring and Max struggles, I guess it's possible.
Check out his numbers since his return. I think he's now 6-2 and has allowed 14 earned runs in 61 innings (2.07 ERA) and struck out 74 batters since coming off the disabled list the first time in late June.
He'll be going back to Cali. The Padres will have $200M (7 yrs) with his name on it after the end of next season.
His stuff is amazing. He needs to stay healthy and be consistent. His starts have been fairly predictable. After he recovers from an physical issue, he usually comes back strong. If it is a weak opponent and decent weather, he dominates. When it is hot and humid he tends to struggle more. If he could just remain healthy, he'd be what was advertised. Unfortunately, he has been in and out so much that it has delayed his development as a pitcher. He's still so inexperienced and has a lot to learn. But the stuff has always been there. Needs to throw the heat and not be in it.
