I hope he's sick or something. The big drop in velocity is concerning.

I love Stras but its always something with this guy. Is it too much to ask for him to just stay healthy for a year and be consistent? Doesn't seem to be an issue for any other stud P in the league...

"It's not muscular, it's just like this little ball back there..."

Muscular?

That's what Stras said. So what is a little ball in your back that's not muscle? Has nobody told him what the diagnosis is?

Whatever they did the last time that "fixed" it, why don't they do that after every start, even if he's not having a problem.

If it's the back and it's not muscle spasms, then the crack medical staff ought to give him a better diagnosis than "a little ball of something". Maybe the Nats ought to replace the doctors who treated Denard Span until Span got his own doctor?

I sincerely think he's done for the year. I also think that it won't matter come his next start. The Mets will sweep the Phillies, and the Cardinals will probably take 2.

Even if he's on 15 day DL or gets one more start before heading there, it's September. He'll make it back for like two starts and the playoffs, with the minimum 15 days, but every time he's gone on the DL he's spent a month there. He's almost certainly done for the year unless he can work through this somehow...but 94 MPH fastballs with little movement aren't going to get the job done.

I sincerely think he'll make his next start and dominate.  The Mets will lose the series to the Phillies and the Cardinals will probably lose 2.

“It’s kind of just this ball. It’s strange. It’s not a cyst, but kind of this little knot that’s there and doesn’t really hurt to the touch, but sometimes when it gets a little bit pissed off with the grind of throwing and everything, it causes everything around it to get a little upset,” Strasburg said. “But like I said, last time it flared up, treated it, and felt great very quickly after that.”

I'd call in Sigourney Weaver.  She's could see if he is hosting an Alien.

I hope the "little ball in the back" is just tightness and not a physical bump.

Don't wanna go macabre but when I first read the post about a "ball" in his back, I thought "lump".     I didn't like the thought of that.

If Strasburg is alien pregnant, sign the alien.

Boras client already.  Expect Yankees and Dodgers to be involved.
