According to Zuckerman the Nats payroll for 2010 is $52 million, an $8 million decrease from the 100 loss team in 2009.  Sounds like the old man is sticking to the Plan.

Really?  I thought it looked like it ran in on him.  Granted, he didn't exactly try to avoid it.

IDK, I just love that he just turned his body and took it rather than dancing back. He's a big boy and it's a free base.

Should have spent more money on Pudge and Marquis.

Not really sure what that has to do with this game, but at least our off-season made since for the first time in forever.

A lot of fastballs. Does Bruney have an offspeed pitch?

Sometimes I wonder if LACers are baseball fans or bean counters.  Kearns alone covers that difference.  Whining about the payroll in a void is meaningless.  At least whine about somebody specific that you think they should have signed or tried to sign.

I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were wrong, I just couldn't tell.  Watching on a fairly small screen.

Solid beard for Bruney. Wonder if he can keep it through a DC August.

Haha I was jk.  I commend the Lerners for allowing Rizzo to go out and get Marquis/Pudge/Capps.

I'll leave that to our GM, I don't follow baseball other than the Nats so I've got no idea of who we should have signed.  I just want the Nats to win games and they aren't going to do that with no RFer and half a pitching rotation.

I have a feeling that Kennedy is going to become a fan favorite.

Looks like Pudge and Zimm should account for about 80% of the team's GIDPs this season.

Kennedy is just a baseball player. I'm really enjoying watching him play.

He has a sweet swing as well.

Sorry for side tracking the game thread but I thought it would be less obtrusive than starting a dedicated LAC thread.  Heading to the United home opener now hoping to start the seasons out right with a win today and a win Monday.

I'm happy to report that Pudge Rodriguez has officially taken the title of Captain DP from Ryan Zimmerman and Austin Kearns.

I just think they are in it to make money.  Yeah, yeah most owners are, but there are signs that our group isn't all that worried about the losing.  I know they have "the plan" and have stuck by it and have said all along they want to build a winner, sometimes it's hard to believe.

Although, I will say this offseason they've done a pretty good job and hopefully they are turning the corner.

I think they will probably be co-captains.

Pudge still had a strong spring (average is above .330 still I believe) and before today he only GIDP once.
