Since the Nats added five major league pieces like I required (Marquis, Kennedy, Bruney, Capps, Pudge), I am going to get some sort of program to watch the Nats. The one I've heard the most about is MLB.tv, and I was wondering from those of you who either have it or have any experience with it, what do you think of it? And is Premium worth the extra 20 bucks? I've saved up the cash and I can afford either btw.

I had it. It wasn't worth it for me because I can see the Nats games on MASN.

I had it to watch replays because I work during the games. They only show the game, they cut out everything else, everything. Cuts from last out and comes back right at the first pitch of the next inning, if you like the banter in between, you'll miss it.

You also get audio so you can listen to Charlie and Dave.

Also, if you have a Roku ($79 for SD model, $99 for HD model), you can watch the streams on your TV.

I've had it for four years because I live in New York. It is the greatest service, the HD is extremely high quality! Sometimes it is choppy but it's fine usually. I have it hooked up to my HDTV so I get to watch them on a big screen. Then I get to go back and watched games I missed a few hours later or go back and relive old games (archive goes back to 06).

I highly recommend it no doubt.

Yeah I live in Boston, so I don't get to watch any Nats games.

GMU what did you think of the service though?

Um, why the hell would you get MLB.tv just for Nats-related content if you can still watch the games?

When I got it, I got it for other games around the league.

IMO, it's worth it if:

1. You want to watch other teams because you thoroughly enjoy MLB action around the league.
2. You don't have the MLB Network.

I found it kind of expendable once I got MLB Network.

The service was fine. Rarely choppy. I loved the feature where they alert you if one of your fantasy players were coming to bat. Also, they have a feature where after the game is over, they show a condensed version of the game. In that, they only show what happens after the ball is hit so you don't have to watch all the other meaningless fill-in during a game.

I didn't buy it. I got it for free. There was some offer where I had to fill out a form and watch a video and they gave away free MLB.TV. I didn't use it as much as I thought I would.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I still didn't use it quite as much as I thought even before MLB Network launched.

Yeah, I'll echo this. Pretty good service, and the condensed games are awesome.

I had it and my wireless signal at my apartment was pretty shaky, so it was more frustrating than anything. The HD was nice when I could get the signal to work how I wanted it to. I'll probably do Extra Innings this year since I have Directv now, we'll see. If you've got a good internet connection and computer than can process the video quickly, it's a good service. Also, as was mentioned above, the cutting out of commercials and pre and post game stuff was a little irritating because often times, whoever was in control of that usually seemed to have little awareness of when they were cutting it in and out, it happened often they'd cut it out in the middle of the post game interviews or replays or something like that when I wanted to see what was going on. It's a pretty good lower cost alternative though.

It was still the best purchase yo've ever made - in my opinion anyway....

I had it a few years ago, and the service was fine, and reportedly has improved substantially since with a mosaic of games, etc.

Canceling it is a nightmare. I dropped it when I installed a slingbox to watch the games when I traveled. It took several months to get the service canceled, and then MLB still went ahead and re-upped me the next year so I couple spend a few more months canceling it again.

Yeah I have the MLB At Bat app on my iPod, so I can watch the condensed game on it as well.

Some quick internet research shows that MLB.TV covers international territories, and in fact you can watch postseason games the moment they're over rather than waiting for an extended blackout period.

Point is, I'm considering grad schools in England. If I go, I'll be going right at the end of September, so maybe it doesn't matter. Hopefully the USA and international accounts aren't separate, because I don't want to have to buy the thing twice!

I believe they are. I've tried to listen to games while traveling overseas, and never had any luck.

You can't watch Hulu either

Better be sure, I think you have to call a doctor for that if it lasts more than 4 hours.

Looks like you are correct. I'd never seen it written, and was hearing it as "hip hip", but if you google both terms you find the preponderance of the evidence with the "pip pip" arrangement. Learn something every day.
