Historically I've enjoyed your posts but lately everything is just a downer.

I would agree with this assessment.

By the way, Ted Lerner parked next to me, tapped my door with his, didn't check to see if he'd scratched the car, and drove off.

When stuck in a traffic jam, how can you tell if it's Ted Lerner or Jeffrey Loria in the car in front of you?

If he gets out of the car and annoys on his tires, it's Ted Lerner.

If he gets out of the car and annoys on your tires, it's Jeffrey Loria.

EDIT: I don't have a problem with Lerner, except maybe over withholding rent when functionally using a stadium.

sorry. as strongly positive i have felt in the past, i feel that much negative now. this is a washington nationals forum, where else am i supposed to post how much i dislike the owners, stan kasten, bob carpenter, and debbi taylor? i'm sure my ratio of inane to insightful comments is that same now as it was in the past. its just that nobody cared about inane positive stuff.

Wow, what a compelling argument.  In my opinion, the Nats are following the 00's O's model.  Talk a good game in November, act like you are going to make waves, chase players knowing full well that you won't sign them, sign a has been big name, sign some scrubs and come March say "we tried and made the best moves for this year and the future" and then come in last place AGAIN.

You are so full of crap !

Wow, what a compelling argument.

Because Person A = Person B is so much more compelling?

All owners in baseball = all other owners in baseball.

Just as true, if not more so.  And yet completely worthless as a statement.

if person a = person b is all you read you would be correct, but that wasn’t the extent of my post as opposed to the insightful “You are so full of crap”

Look, my frustration is with the franchise as a whole.

They have been cheap, I don't care what anyone says.  They have tossed out complete crap for us to watch.  All I have been saying is throw us a bone once in a while, especially on a short term deal.  We may need to spend some more cash on prospects like Chapman, even if we might not think he's worth the extra 5 mil.  Make a point that we are not a 2nd class team, Stras and Chap would have been something to really build around.  It would have caused some buzz.  What did we we save in the end? 5 mil? Throw us a bone....

I am just curious -- what will it take for some of the LAC to fall off that wagon?

I've pretty much fallen off. They've spent some money this offseason, just like they said they would.

Yeah, but if they'd spent more money they would have won more games.

playoffs in 2006 (how did we do that year?), in the world series in 2000, 2nd in the division in 08 and 07. It would be nice to be competive at least for one season

Did you really just bring up 2000? How many of those players are still in the league?? Why not mention 2002 -- 2005?

For as much money as they spend, I would be pissed with their results. Every year, the Mets try and keep up with the Yankees, spend TONS of money...and still manage to lose 92 games...like they did last year.

For every good/decent year they have, they have 2 disastrous years.

I would say the same about us, but we've only ever had disastrous years.

There WAS 2005! :)

Given that we don't have to watch Cabrera, Hanrahan, Rivera, etc., etc. continue to blow games, I think the Nats will be a respectable team this year. But that's probably me being overly-optimistic...

I actually like the bullpen moves. And, while the bat might not be there anymore, having Pudge's leadership and knowledge there is huge for me.

Oh yeah -- and Strasburg and Storen waiting in the wings makes me feel funny, like climbing a rope in gym class...

I'm willing to say owners can grow into the job.

Best examples might be Pats and the Caps.  Kraft got involved in settling draft day disputes between Parcells and his player personnel guy, had a stop watch at Tebucky Jones's pre-draft work out, shot off his mouth about "press corners," and did not recognize Carroll was the guy who needed more authority. He only became smart when he hired Belichik, gave him some video equipment, and said, "it's all yours."  As for the Caps, I don't think it was much of a love-fest for Leonsis until the past two or three years.

The Lerners looked like they were snowed a bit by Bowden that they could build cheap, and Kasten could only tell them you have to give me time to build a system.  Hence, LAC.  Now it seemes Rizzo and Kasten have convinced them that at some point, we have to try to be at least mediocre in order for our fans to be willing to wait for our player development system (rather than rush talent).

I had the same thought regarding Bowden...I think his name should be added to the profanity filters. Oh and speaking of our former loud-mouthed GM, this was on the DC Sports Bog this morning:

Kinda funny...

I can hardly think of anything more boring than discussing ownership when pertaining to sports. I have to shake my head at imagining these group of people who pay to go see a game (cheap nosebleeds), buy a beer and just sit there for nine innings thinking about ownership rather than what is going down on the field.

Seriously, how does this jabronie have ANY credibility?? It's not like he has evidence to point to him obtaining or demonstrating the ability to do ANY of those items!
