Damn this sucks. That means 4 of the top 30 prospects (Morris, Norris, Espinosa, Jamie) are already on the DL, in addition to Justin Maxwell on bereavement for the birth of his daughter.

The Suns announcer has mentioned Kobernus missing some easy balls defensively through the gaps and he has dropped a few throws at second. He is probably just getting back up to speed though.

Destin Hood has been playing well in right field tonight and Eury Perez continues to cover large areas of the outfield, even throwing out a runner at home. Nieto also threw out a runner in what sounded like a perfect throw to 2B.

Thats good to hear...Hagerstown has a ton of talent hopefully they start winning some more games. Does anyone know if D. Norris is making his debut tomorrow?

I wouldn't be surprised if he got sent back down to Vermont once short season started up. Hagerstown already has two center fielders in Marcus Jones and JR Higley (on DL right now) who are more prepared for Single A. Perez has been mostly over-matched against the pitching at his current level. Today he was 0 for 4, but did reach first on an error. He has been pretty good about stealing, but was also caught for the first time today.

I like Perez for the future as well, but he seems like a guy that they just wanted to get at-bats for until the other teams started up. A lot can happen before for June though.

Yeah but on the same page he is the youngest of the group and hasn't played above GCL until this year. That means he still probably hasn't learned the language and he has never played on a team that lives with a host family and has travel games so far away (DSL travels only around the Dominican and GCL only around a small area of Florida). That is a lot of external stress to put on a kid that young and I wouldn't be surprised if it started manifesting itself in his game.

We will see what happens, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see BOTH Ramirez and Perez sent to short season if they struggle.

I see where you're coming from, hopefully Perez can handle the external issues I think F. Soriano and S. Leon being there with him will help with the adjustment.

I think the movie 'Sugar' does a good job showing you how tough it is for a young kid to adjust to baseball and America the first time they are away from home!

At any rate, I want to see Sugar again but will wait until they sell the original release. In theaters, the movie was just about perfect.

Syracuse defeats Buffalo 4-3 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

J.D. Martin picked up his first win and second straight quality start (6.2 IP 7 H 3 ER 1 BB 3 K) and 3B Chase Lambin carried the load offensively as he racked up 4 hits and 3 RBIs.

If Olsen fails or one of the starters gets injured, I hope Martin gets a chance. I think the team should move him to the bullpen after the season. He can be effective than Bergmann in that role.
