masnBen - #Nats shortstop prospect Danny Espinosa, who is at Class AA Harrisburg, has been put on the disabled list with a hamstring injury.
Fantastic, thanks.The "S" on the caps looks strangely familiar . . .
Damn this sucks. That means 4 of the top 30 prospects (Morris, Norris, Espinosa, Jamie) are already on the DL, in addition to Justin Maxwell on bereavement for the birth of his daughter.
They really need to start calling it family leave.
What if you don't like kids?
Maxwell should go on bereavement because his bat died.
I was joking.
In good new, Kobernus is 2/4 tonight and off to a 5/10 start in Low A.
Thats good to hear...Hagerstown has a ton of talent hopefully they start winning some more games. Does anyone know if D. Norris is making his debut tomorrow?
Eury Perez is looking like he'll be our future CF/leadoff hitter. Dude knows how to get on base.
I wouldn't be surprised if he got sent back down to Vermont once short season started up. Hagerstown already has two center fielders in Marcus Jones and JR Higley (on DL right now) who are more prepared for Single A. Perez has been mostly over-matched against the pitching at his current level. Today he was 0 for 4, but did reach first on an error. He has been pretty good about stealing, but was also caught for the first time today.I like Perez for the future as well, but he seems like a guy that they just wanted to get at-bats for until the other teams started up. A lot can happen before for June though.
I think they'd send JP Ramirez down before Perez...Perez has a higher cieling than anyone in the outfield other than Hood so I think he'll stick.
I think the movie 'Sugar' does a good job showing you how tough it is for a young kid to adjust to baseball and America the first time they are away from home!
2. SugarThe most underappreciated movie of the year, Sugar begins as a baseball movie and ends up being something much more important. It tells the story of Miguel "Sugar" Santos, a Dominican baseball player who is drafted by a major league team and heads to the United States to prove his worth. Despite the appearance of several ballgames in the movie, Sugar is more about the immigrant experience, and ultimately about chasing the American dream. It's heartwarming and surprising, and it defies all the stereotypes of sports movies.Strengths: Vivid, realistic, humorous and original, with great plot turns and a beautiful ending. Algenis Perez Soto, who is not an actor at all but a real Dominican baseball player, turns in a wonderful performance as Sugar Santos.Weaknesses: For the DVD release, the creators censored the movie in an attempt to reduce the rating from R to PG-13. Why would anybody want to lower the rating on a DVD? At any rate, I want to see Sugar again but will wait until they sell the original release. In theaters, the movie was just about perfect.
