and Burgess just hit an RBI double.  60 RBIs on the year.

JZ done after 3.  Great outing.  3 IP, H, HBP, 5 K

Alaniz is a career minor leaguer. Good enough to dominate A+ ball but suck elsewhere.

How about Shairon Martis? :hammonds & linty batsignal: 7 IP 6 H 0 ER 1 BB 4 K (Win). ERA down to 3.75. 5-3 with a 2.52 ERA over his last 10 starts. :whip: :whip:

Eury Perez finally coming around a little bit in Hagerstown. Just turned 20 a few months ago and he is holding his own.

.259 BA with 8 doubles, 2 triples, 2 HRs, 24 RBIs, 44 Runs, 28 SBs, 7 CS in 266 ABs.

Room for improvement obviously but I am glad he is performing better and is sticking with Hagerstown instead of being sent down to Vermont.

Is it his first season out of the DSL? You have to cut the guy a ton of slack.

Moldenhauer cracked his 5th HR in 27 Vermont ABs last night. .222/.344/.778 :lmao: :lmao:

He needs to be in Hagerstown at the minimum but there is really no room for him there.

He played in the GCL last season. I still think he deserves a ton of slack like you mention and I am happy with his performance thus far.

When do they start rebuilding his swing?

2 walks in his last 10 games.  .286 / .324 / .400 over that stretch.  I thought part of his game was good plate discipline for a kid who was 18 at the start of last season?  Looks like his walk rate is 1/2 of what it was in the GCL and far below what it was in the DSL.  Nice to see he's improving after the big jump, but for a guy with base stealing talent, getting on will be the difference between Brett Butler and Nook Logan.

Don't get me wrong - I'm glad he is coming around and seems to be meeting a big challenge.  I just wondered if those of you who follow the minors closely have seen him and can tell us something about his plate approach.

He only has 10 at bats in the GCL.

Give him some time to get settled before hot shotting him with a promotion and screwing up his development.

Eury Perez went 2/2 in the Futures game :whip:

His hits were off of Shelby Miller and Tanner Scheppers :whip: :whip:

Does anyone think Perez will make it to Patomac this year or will he finish the year in Hagerstown?

Hagerstown was already a big jump.  Things are jsut starting to click in for him. Some here thought he'd be sent to Vermont when the short season started.  A complete season at Hagerstown will still leave him young when the Carolina League starts next year.  Next year, it'd be good if he started in Potomac and excellent if he was bumped to Harrisburg.

How about some pub for Stephen Lombardozzi?

19th round JuCo pick from the 2008 draft, he doesn't turn 22 until late September. He has put up really solid numbers this year in a tough league on hitters (Carolina League):

.295/.383/.422, 23 Doubles, 8 Triples, 1 HR, 29 RBIs, 42 BBs, 49 Ks, 16 SBs, 7 CS (332 ABs)

And defensively he has only committed 6 errors in 84 games at 2B. .985 Fielding Percentage.

Looks like a potential future lead-off man for the Nats?

In the MiLB All Star game, Chase Lambin just drove in a run with a double then scored on a single after that.

He might be the MVP in this game!

And Nats farmhand Rafael Martin picked up in the AA Eastern All-Star Game with a scoreless 7th inning (1 IP 0 H 0 R 0 BB 2 K).

Milone started the game and pitched two scoreless. 2 IP 0 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K.

Carr struck out the only batter he faced.

Marrero went 1/2 with a Single and a run.

Espinosa went 0/2 with a run.

Solano went 0/2.
