And just to compare Martis to our other scrubs.

Atilano 2010 AAA numbers - 1.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 7.4 K/9, 4.50 K/BB

Martin 2010 AAA numbers - 2.97 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 5.2 K/9, 3.50 K/BB

Martis 2010 AAA numbers - 4.05 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 6.1 K/9, 1.73 K/BB

So, Martis isn't even close to either one of these guys... and they're both barely hangin on the in the pros.

So, once again, not a chance in hell Martis will ever amount to anything.

NONE of them is a major league pitcher right now. Marquis and Olsen should be there, but there's not enough depth behind them, AGAIN.

Don't disagree one bit. But, that just proves my point that Martis has no business being in the MLB.

Anyone got a scouting report on Erik Arnesen? He's got a 3.5/1 SO/BB ratio between Harrisburg and Syracuse. He's listed at 6'3, 260?! Big guy.

...no business being in the MLB now. But when you say that Martis has "not a chance in hell" of EVER "amounting to anything," you're hyperventilating.

I'm breathing quite fine, thank you.

Well, they are going to get passed if the team is going to go anywhere. 5 major league starters, with 1 or 2 of these guys in AAA and the rest legit prospects is where I want to be (and that may be a serious pipe dream). But when 2 of your main starters go down and you have 1 fill-in already starting, and only 1 super-prospect and fill-ins left to take the mound, you get a team struggling for .500. Lannan should be the LEAST talented guy in the rotation, which would only have been achieved with perfect health this season.

I think it's an exaggeration to call him a failure, but your likelihood of being successful goes down with each passing year that you're mediocre in the high minors without any progress.  He has time on his side since he's young, but the progression isn't there.

Unfortunately, his stuff is kind of unspectacular (decent velocity but poor movement on his pitches), and you have the question the mental/make-up side of things if he's showing up to ST overweight for the second year in a row (when he's fighting for a job, mind you).

Looking at his stats, it appears that Espinosa has stalled in AA. Is that a fair assumption?

To date, not what they would have hoped. It'll be interesting to see if he can make adjustments and finish strong

Hammonds gets owned again :lmao:

Shairon Martis kicking ass in AAA. He's setting himself up for a promotion sometime soon.

-He has given up 3 ERs or fewer in 8 straight starts.

-Over those last 8 starts his numbers: 48 IP 44 H 16 ER 15 BB 28 K (3-2, 3.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP)

are you freakin kidding me?

your favorite player is our back-up catcher and he wouldn't make any other team in baseball.  he is arguably the worst player in baseball and yet when someone continues to call him out and reem him, you sit there and talk about how someone else sucks.

you cried and cried about the nats signing livan and pudge and now they are looking like two of the best pick-ups in baseball.

your other favorites: zimmerman (great season again), lannan (up and down, but last 4 of 5 have been okay), then bernadina (who had every chance in the beginning and almost blew it until that one mets game - then fell off again - before finally climbing back up to a respectable clip).

martis has been bad this year as linty has pointed out.  what world do you live in?  you have no room to talk about whether fellow posters are wrong/right about certain players.

Zimmerman doesn't count as a favorite. Hell, Strasburg is my favorite pitcher.

I agree he might be too good for the Sally League... but he's right around the league average age. I think his development could be sped up a bit... but I want to see how long he can keep up mashing in the Sally. If it goes on for another week or two, by all means, move the man up.

good to see espinosa and marrero show some power in AA.  Marrero continues to be on fire ... Espinosa's AVG is real low though.
