ChiefChris, that's a hilarious Strasburg picture in your avatar.
LOL!! I don't know if you have seen that movie "The Burbs" but i'm sorry, Strasburg in that avatar looks like Hans Klopek.

Ugh, you're right:

Apparently I went to Strasburg AND Whitesell's last games as Chiefs when I made the trip to Buffalo Thursday. He had been hitting the ball well too: .379 in his last eight... Looks like Chris Duncan has replaced him as our cleanup hitter.

They have always said that Strasburg is a "special" player.

Meyers to the DL again because of a foot injury? Ugh.

Nieto promoted to Harrisburg? lol wut? He couldn't even hit in the Sally league. Just a procedural move?

0/3 with a K.

Cool that Brad Peacock got to pitch to him. He did decent: 5 IP 7 H 3 ER 1 BB 9 K.

Peacock has struck out a ton of batters this season (81 Ks to 13 BBs in 62.2 IP) but he is 1-7 and has a 4.74 ERA.

I'll gladly take his 11.63 K/9, 1.86 BB/9 and his 6.23 K/BB rate any day of the week.

For him to be so dominating at such a young age in the Carolina league is a very exciting thing.

Forget his 1-7 record... focus on the fact that his projectable stats are off the chart and that he's been victimized by a higher than average HR/FB rate that will surely come down.

Peacock is having an outstanding season, especially for someone that is one year younger than the average Carolina League player.

Problem with Peacock is twofold from the three times I've seen him. Getting out of innings after getting two outs and the third time through a lineup.

The hits he gives up the third time through are almost always solidly hit

How fast does he throw?

Also, looking at his numbers.... he clearly changed his approach to pitching this year from years past... what did he change?

Throws hard. Low-90s. Problem is in my non-expert opinion he either overthrows or has too tight a grip on the ball letting it turn into a 88 mph flat fastball.

Reds' starter Homer Bailey visiting Syracuse on a rehab assignment with Louisville. Chiefs touch him up for 5 ER in 4.1 IP, ultimately getting the win 7-6. With the win, Chiefs remain in first place in their division.

Damn, that sucks.  It's really going to be a long time for this kid to make it.

I wondered why he just stopped pitching a few weeks ago.

Damn shame. :(

Saw a tweet that we signed Jason Botts to a minor league deal. Have not found confirmation yet.

Yeah and it explains his sucking so bad. All in all could be a good thing.

McGeary actually started to look pretty good this year.  His WHIP was at 1.36 and his K/BB rate was 32/15 both of which were major improvements.  Hope he gets surgery, gets better, and shows continued improvement once he's back.

I know its a small sample size, but Boomer Whiting has been impressive so far in AAA.

.351/.467 with 7 steals already.

I am a fan already, but it doesn't hurt his cause that he is the first guy on the field before a game.
