You think we can get Anna Benson (http://sports.gunaxin.com/wp-content/gallery/anna-benson/anna-benson-17.jpg) to be our sideline reporter if we sign Kris?

St. Louis Times-Dispatch on Chris Duncan:

Quote
Pitching coach Dave Duncan reports that son Chris is participating in an early hitters’ camp with Washington Nationals coach Rick Eckstein in suburban Orlando. The younger Duncan, whom the Cardinals traded to the Boston Red Sox last year for infielder Julio Lugo, is apparently over the lingering effects of 2008 surgery that replaced a cervical disc with a prosthetic. Duncan signed a minor-league contract with the retooled Nationals and will attend major-league camp as a non-roster invitee.

A healthy Chris Duncan would be a nice thing to have.  He was never right last year...

Duncan hits lefty, which is a nice complement to Dukes and/or Morse.

MLBTR tells me that Rowson Holland tweeted that the Nats have signed Willy Tavares to a minor league deal.  A good CF depth deal.

We officially lose the offseason (Willy Taveras)

According to Boris Vallandingham McCoolster, Willy Taveras has a minor league deal and spring training invite from the Nationals.

Remember when Jim Bowden wanted Taveras and we all collectively threw up in our mouths?

If the AAA outfield is Duncan, Taveras, and Mench, is that the most "star" studded outfield in the minors?

I also bet that someone in spring training will say that an outfield of Taveras, Morgan, Harris would be the best outfield we could put out there based on some new defensive metric.

@JMW4th He's owed $4 million for the season, but the #Nats only have to pay the major-league minimum of $400,000--the A's pick up the rest.

that's IF he even makes the team.

Sure, when he wanted him as the starter.  Bringing him in as TPlush's backup, is a different deal.  He is a good OFer, with great speed and could be a great pinch runner/defensive replacement late in a game.  I wouldn't want him as the starter, but I think this could be a good role for him.

Jon Heyman on SI.com is reporting that Taveras will get $4 million from the Nationals. What a moron.
