Placido Polanco?
Hell Placido Domingo is an upgrade.

The difference is that Placido Domingo would not cost us a draft pick.  It looks like Polanco would as a Type A.

Guzman is a second baseman. He hits like one -- decently -- and he isn't a great fielder.

Get a good-fielding SS, move Guzman, and maybe Desmond can prove he's real. But at least get a fielder.

Word is the Dodgers are hell-bent on signing a free agent to take care of second base. Would you guys be interested in trading for Blake DeWitt? What would it take? I like the idea of DeWitt at second and dealing Guzman at the deadline in favor of Desmond. Then our infield would have 3 guys whose names started with D...

You're saying we should try and put together the "Killer D's"?

Yeah.

We can probably get Nyjer to change his name to Dorgan. Oh yeah, and Elijah Dukes would have to stay.

Ryan Zimmerman and Josh Willingham for Dustin Pedroia, Manny Delcarmen, JD Drew, and Dice-K.

I'd hate to lose Zim, but that's be a pretty fair trade...

Fill 3 holes nicely though that would leave a big one at 3rd.

Zimmerman >>>>> Pedroia.

Dice K had a horrific year and is owed a lot of money. Drew is paid way too much and he is not what we need.

Delcarmen is a below average reliever.

Pedroia has no power.

Delcarmen is a set up man.

Drew is so overpaid its absurd.

Dice-K is mercurial and has a bad attitude.

Zim and Hammer, the Nats can't afford to lose them.

Pedroia has no power. 15+ homers = no power? He's also an awesome fielder, can steal some bases, and... he's just a solid ballplayer.

Delcarmen is a set up man. So? We need relievers.

Drew is so overpaid its absurd. So? It's not your money. No cap. Dude can hit.

Dice-K is mercurial and has a bad attitude. Still, if healthy, our rotation would be A LOT better.

Zim and Hammer, the Nats can't afford to lose them.

I get Ellsbury confused with Pedroia - Ellsbury I don't think is even a major leaguer.

Excuse me, but Ellsbury guaranteed my fantasy team a win in the steals category every week for two consecutive years.
(Because we all know that's what really matters.)

Folks, but think of all the Ds we'd be getting!  Sign DeWitt and move him to 3d!  sign dioner, then go with Dewitt, Desmond, Dustin, and Dunn, with Dukes, Dorgan, and Drew!

I would never, ever, ever, ever, EVER trade for a reliever.  EVER.

Dice-K can't handle the rigors of an MLB season, JD Drew just used the two healthy years his career will allow (He'll be back on the DL this year) and DelCarmen aint worth trading for (he's a reliever, they're a dime a dozen).  Pedroia is the crap, though and if you could wrangle him and Ellsbury away from them, I'd take Dice-K as a throw in.

As a starter, would be an upgrade over what we this season, and could be competent backup to Flores.  Might be costly, however.
