Over/Under 110 losses

This team is totally different from the one that donned the Natinals uniforms of the past.

What is everyone's current feeling?
I don't care about Bryce Harper. I care about Now!

If/when the team doesn't finish with the worst record this year will all those "reporters" that hammered the organization apologize.  Most of them seemed to be rooting for the team to break the record of 120 losses and now I wonder if they'll eat crow or just act like it never happened.

Under.

The players just needed some direction which they're finally getting. Shame that it took half a season for ownership to realize this and do something.

As long as it carries into next season, I'm OK with it.

BTW:
There are 62 games left.
The Nats would have to go 21-41 the rest of the way, to finish under 110 losses for the season.

With yesterday's win, the Nats are on exactly 110 loss pace for the season, and it took winning 6 of 8 to even get to that point.  I don't think any magical corner has been turned.  Plus I'm still holding out hope this team can pull off at least one beneficial trade, which will probably weaken the product on the field.  I'm going to be the pessimist.

That's only .338 the rest of the way.  I know they're terrible but still...  even godawful teams can play .338 ball and with some newfound motivation and a little bit of Pythagorean balancing, I think this team could easily play .340+ ball the rest of the way.  Of course I'm mostly talking out of my ass here, and it's going to depend on trades, shutdowns, and call-ups, but still...   I think they could break 50 wins.

Truly pathetic that it has come to this - being optimistic about playing .300+ ball for the remainder of the season to get into the 50-win range  :?

Well, here's my fearless prediction: we go 27-35. I'd prefer, actually, if we got under 100 losses. If we can take 3 from the Pirates and sweep the Diamondbacks in the next week or so, we could stand at 40-72 and then the goal would be 22-28 the rest of the way.

I think it's safe to say we're NOT the '62 Mets at this point.  A better comparison is to look at the '88 Orioles who set a record going 0-21 to start and finished 54-107 (161 games??).  They were bad, as I remember.  But they had some very, very strong players on that team, too (Murray, Ripken, Boddicker, Olsen - you know who they were).  Not sure where they went bad - pitching is the most likely suspect.  Anyway, at 100 games, they were exactly where we are at, 32-68.  For the rest of the year, the O's went 22-39 (.360) which was a moderate improvement from their .320 at 100 games mark, which is not an unreasonabl guestimate for out Nats.  I think we can actually do better and go 28-34 (60-102 finish), which would be amazing, but I doubt it would happen given the lack of veteran pitching.

That's a very good comparison.  Even better would be if the Nats could go 87-75 next year like the '89 Orioles did.

What has been moved...........Oh no, no, no......my touche, my funny...has been moved. Well you know, they do say that cats do not have a sense of humor..    :icon_mrgreen:

Other than that, we will be over 110 losses.  I mean you don't correct a string of 94 errors committed on the field, over-night. But next year, just you wait, we will be in great shape. This is the lessons learned season for the Nats and Nats management.
