The Reds retired #5 for Johnny Bench and some other guy who died.

I guess I didn't understand the question.

It looks like Hanrahan faced three batters last night in extra innings and gave up 1 hit, 1 BB and 1 K.

Here is a better Trivia question; What is the lowest number that is not retired in MLB (no zeroes or negative numbers)?

two straight 0-2 counts and two straight hits.

Harris is not a 2B-man. have no clue why he continues to get starts there.

JZ leads our starting staff in making poor mistakes. You have to be able to put away these hitters.

willie harris has got to make that play.  gonzalez should definitely be our everyday 2nd baseman.

JZ gives up a dagger 2-out HR in back-to-back starts to blow the game.

One of the things this inning shows is about OUR offense.  Other teams force pitchers deep into counts, fouling off pitches.  Our hitters don't do that nearly enough.

That's a good one. I doubt the number is under 20. If McGwire's number was not retired I would say 25 if not I would say 29.

This is a freaking joke.  Our best chance at a W since the break, and we already blew the lead.  freaking Cubs fans chanting at OUR park.  freak this team.

true.

but Zimmermann is just not good enough right now. the Ks and low walk totals are nice but he makes too many mistakes. not good enough.

All it takes is 1 bad pitch to ruin the game. it's happened with him 2 starts in a row.

Dibble, are you sure Nieves is calling the pitches?

Now this loss falls squarely on the pitchers.  The offense, shockingly, scored four runs, with good situational hitting.

When you score four runs, you have to give up five to lose.  Giving up five runs, in less than six innings makes it worse, is unacceptable.

what do you expect though.  he's young and learning on the job.

the front office made it clear we weren't going to go after a retread and it's not like we're gonna drop serious dime on a high price free agent starting.  we're going with the young committee.

it was a terrible pitch, but errors also kill ya.  willie harris makes that play and it's a tie game ... who knows maybe something else would've happened.

Dibble is preaching.

this is freaking pathetic. the pitch calling, selection, execution by the whole staff is just a farce.

He's struggled with that but he's the best pitcher we have (as far as stuff) and I'm not worried. He is going to be a good one (unless he never overcomes this issue :?).
