Question: Is it the moderators that add to the present listing of smileys that all Board members can use or can individual posters add smileys to the already established list?

Chief does it. You can request a smiley in this thread but the last one that was added was removed from the list shortly thereafter so it may be useless to request one.  :?

If it were up to me I'd add this one    to represent the way the Lerners are treating their fanbase.

It was removed because you guys were abusing the hell out of it, and I know you know that! :P

Some people were being jerks about it and one was drunk. I guess when all is said and done I can still post that smiley but it was much easier to just type :lmao:

Everything was spelled wrong in that post but the smileys were in a perfect "n" shape. Stunning.

Maybe if you guys stopped using :lmao: even though you know the smiley is off, I might re-instate it.  You know I'm just going to use a different code anyway, so what does that accomplish? ;)

Question: So Chief, since you are the only one that can install new Smiley's, can we go to the next generation of Smileys. The bigger, bolder, more colorful ones that are now being used on other Message Boards?

Example of the next generation of Smileys: Shown under the thread -Unofficial Strasburg/Boras Negotiation Thread, posted by Spidernat -who is using a next generation Smiley.

You mean this monstrosity?

I don't have any hard and fast rules about smilies, and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've ever edited a user's post to remove an "outside" smiley, but I generally don't feel it's desirable to add overly large, animated, distracting smilies to the forum's collection.  If posters want to use them with img tags then they can, but I am not inclined to make it easier for everyone to abuse such obnoxious smilies to death, especially after what I saw with the lmao smiley last week.

Okay, Chief ; I just thought I would give it a shot, to get the newer versions, large (like spidernats post) and small.   :icon_mrgreen:

I don't mind the smaller ones as much, it depends on the animation though.  I judge each smiley on a case-by-case basis.  As spider pointed out, there is already an official request thread, so I'm going to lock this up - any requests you have you may post there:
