He has all the tools to succeed up here. How can you say he's a bum if he hasn't even been given the opportunity?

If Bucholz was the savior you guys say he is he would be pitching with Boston in the rotation or the pen.

I don't recall having called Bernadina a bum. Also, no one here called Bucholz a savior like you have done for some of our young arms (even one we haven't even signed yet :?) and Boston actually has deeper pitching at the MLB level so that they can be patient with a pitcher like Bucholz.

pwned

who are you referring to?  nobody said gonzalez can't play.  i just dont like him at short and his first inning error backs up my statement (what 7 or 8 errors this season).  he's better at 2nd and he's a better option than hernandez.

so you are just going to throw out his terrible numbers last year with Boston?

he wasn't just bad he was absolutely dreadful (93 hits, 41 BBs in 76 IP; 6.75 ERA).

he's still young.  hey martis got absolutely shelled in his last few starts in the bigs ... nobody is saying he will never ever figure it out.

Bernadina has yet to show that he can't play up here.

.213/.300/.263 in the majors from a player with a 8-Year MINOR LEAGUE CAREER line of .265/.351/.383 says otherwise.

*note: that Minor League Career Line INCLUDES his 2008 Miracle Season.*

but throw all the stats out the window if you want.

Yeah, his numbers are fine. sportsfan thinks that every Major League player needs to have power. That's why I'm surprised he likes Gonzalez so much. Dude has no pop in his bat.
that's just not true. He has a hell of a lot more pop than weak-hitting Morgan.

Gonzalez smokes line drives consistently and gets a lot of doubles in gaps.

AlGo is slugging .440.

Morgan is slugging .358.

horrid. another weak ground ball out for Morgan. so freaking irritating. Willie Harris really needs to be starting everyday.

Morgan has better overall numbers when you add in the SBs. All of those singles become doubles.  And no, Gonzalez has no power. I do like him, though.

Gonzalez can hit 5-10 Bombs with a .300+ BA with a full season worth of ABs. Lots of doubles too.

Gonzalez is hitting 59 points higher than Morgan. AlGo is leading the team in BA.

yeah and SF gonzalez also has the error that scored the first run.  stop making him out like he's going to st. louis to play the all-star game.

no doubt about it.  morgan has come over and has done an admirable job for us.  everyone other than sf will attest to that.

Harris is better than Morgan. be real

Morgan is a fine 4th-5th OFer who can swipe a bag and cover ground in the OF.

I think something needs to be made clear.

Sportsfan seems to be the only one with the mindset that Morgan is expected to be something more than a Glove-First CFer who will move to the bench when we get a CF who can both hit and field.

does anyone here really think that Morgan is going to be some sort of superstar?

that's what he's here for.

so wtf is your problem here, outside of that his name isn't Bernadina?
