I'd take Old Dominion Brewing Co. over RFD in that area. RFD is too loud, too crowded, and widely inconsistant.

RFD is still open, but gets really packed. Iron Horse isn't a bad second choice. (And the bikes are cool.)

there's a place called grand slam sports bar in the hyatt @ metro center. solid sports bar, i always go there before nats games whenever i take the metro.

I like RFD. Been there once but I was able to go into that back bar. That place is sweet.

Definitely January and definitely a weekend. Right now it looks like I'd leave on the 13th and try to be there by late afternoon and then leave sometime on Monday (MLK Day).

saturday night may be tricky. i could probably do a thursday night/friday night/sunday afternoon.

Gonna try to take in a Caps game while I'm there. They play that Friday and Sunday.

Many of the preseason predictions were for Caps/Canucks in the Finals, so if I had to choose, Friday would be my pick (disclaimer: Vancouver is my "other" team, and this is the only time all regular season where I want to see the Canucks lose).

Just got a phone call from my brother. Looks like we'll be going to BOTH Caps games that weekend!

Perhaps this means a Saturday night meetup for drinks?
