I believe Wang and his wife had a baby yesterday.  Probably means he pitches one for the ages tonight.

Wow, two kids on the same day? What are the odds on that?  :icon_mrgreen:

Nope - I think we crush 'em.

I wonder which Lannan shows up tonight.  The one with 60+% groundballs or the one who has 20% of his flies hit for homers.  Got a hunch both.

Our staff ace against Chien Ming Wang and his 14 ERA... please god win this one... I don't know if I can handle another terrible loss.

I thought Valentine wanted some serious $$$, as in the $4M range.

John Lannan told me he is working extra hours in running and lifting between starts and this has helped him feel stronger with his pitches, especially his fastball, which he feels now has some more zip.

solid post as always ronny.

they mentioned last night on tv that he was really working out harder these days and that lannan is looking to improve on his fastball and feels he's getting in better shape.

Well, I missed last night's game because I was sitting out on the back patio with the wife, some Maker's Mark and Radio Margaritaville playing a replay of a Buffett concert at Jones Beach in 2000.  And at the end of the night, I got lucky!

Tonight I am en route to Kingston, NY to play in a game so I won't be able to watch tonight's game.

Tomorrow night, I am home by myself and the wife is out with her girlfriends so I'll have no choice but to watch the inevitable sweep at the hands of one of the two evil franchises in baseball.  :(

I would love to know whether he has some basis for making a comment like that or if he's just shooting off his mouth like hammonds does all the time.

i thought no personal insults 8)

whatever i don't care if some of you think i'm stubborn when it comes to my feelings on the lerners, there are some that agree with me.  i have my belief that as the organization is rotting, they are key contributors to the failure.

It's not a personal insult, you DO shoot your mouth off about the Lerners.  Constantly.  You have no facts to back up your claims, only speculation.  And that's fine, that's your opinion.  You're perfectly entitled to your beliefs, though I do wish you'd stop inundating the rest of us with them - we know you think they're cheap.

Results from my last night's YNOT performance

1) Will Austin Kearns get a hit?  Hell no +1
2) Will Shairon Martis last 6 innings or more?  No Yes
3) Will a Nationals player hit a home run?  Yes +1
4) How many times will Bob Carpenter say jam job?  17   I counted about 7
5) Will Manny Acta stand in the dugout with a lifeless expression on his face after a bad call (against the Nats)?  Yes +1

3 correct ... not so bad

Yeah it's my opinion (and I feel no different than when people constantly bash a Dunn/Milledge/Kearns/Hanrahan) ... but given the current state of the organization (and the family's pathetic track record since taking over) there's strong evidence to back up LAC crowd's claim that they are just that: cheap and not the best of owners.

I'll leave it at that and not "ruin" the gameday thread.

Go Lannan and go Nats.

The wife recently lost her job so we've had to make sacrifices.

We trimmed down the internet service.
We trimmed down the DirecTV service.
We got rid of the cell phones.
We cut back the OnStar subscription.

But I WILL NOT get rid of my XM service.

At this point, she's really getting into the stay-at-home-mom gig.  I don't think she wants to return to the workplace anytime soon.

After day care expenses for three kids, we're only losing a net of about $150-/week so we're just adjusting lifestyles at this point.  If we can trim that out of our monthly bills, she won't have to return to work.
