I hope Lannan has a pretty good debut.  He really ascended quickly, so you can't expect too much from him.  I just hope he doesn't break anyone's hand.

Owings can hit, but we should knock him around.

This seems like an odd start time.  Is there some sort of special occasion I'm not aware of?

It's a get away day. The Nats play tomorrow in St. Pete. The Reds play tomorrow in KC.

Right, but why play at 4:30?  Those get-away games are usually played earlier in the afternoon.

Overloading the Metro or some such crap. The Nats don't play hooky games

I'm not even talking about the Nats, necessarily, just in general.  There aren't many late afternoon starts unless there's a second game involved.

In DC, if you start at 1 p.m. it's freaking hot and the temperature rises to REALLY freaking hot.

If you start at 4:30, the temperature starts at REALLY freaking hot and then ends at freaking hot.  It's a matter of preference.  You're more likely to keep the 5,000 people who actually show up to the game around longer if they know it'll be 10 degrees "cooler" in the ninth inning.  It may make the inevitable blown save more tolerable since they stop serving alcohol in the 7th inning.

I see.  that sounds like just about every where in the country.  Good to know they're taking it into consideration though, ya know, thinking of the fans and stuff.

She is.  She said that DC is just as hot as Mississippi in July and August.

Why isn't Dukes at the #2 slot. We have 2 weak OBP guys at the top of the lineup.
