no, Rob. that pitch was a foot off the plate. The ump last night was calling that one a strike.

So if there are peaks and valleys for players, why are there only valleys for the team as a whole?

wow we suck. NJ, RZ, and Dunn go down quietly after the lead-off single.

This can't be happening, "the offense is fixed"!

haha, I couldn't resist. But Kasten declaring that earlier this month was ridiculous.  They still need more pieces.  Granted one of those pieces is injured Jesus Flores.

Looking back at that statement, it ties in with the push for pitching today.

there it goes. Martis is incapable of getting out lefties. He just can't do it.

Why didn't they walk Bruce to face Gonzalez?

I see nobody bought ads on y'all's giant electronic banner and they're listing all the restaurants located in the ballpark. Oy.

Because four of our five starting pitchers are AA guys who are here because we don't have major league pitching. Give them credit for doing better than anyone has a right to expect...

against lefties he does big time.

until he learns to get them out or pitch around them effectively he will continue to have struggles.

Man.....Strasburg would truly be the best pitcher on this staff if he were here today. I have no doubt about that. I don't even think it would be close. We have a staff that should be playing in AAA. Don't get me wrong...I think Zim2 will be huge, and I like Detweiler, but they should really be playing in the minors now.

Saying Martis sucks is like saying Balester sucks.  I don't think either of them do.  They both have struggled as young pitchers in the league though.  Martis probably will need to take the same route and go back to AAA to work some things out.

I agree with Berkely.  Everyone except Lannan would have been best served with another year in AAA (maybe some spot starts in b/w).
