His first season back 1946; 26wins  2.18ERA  348Ks

It looks like he came back at the end of the '45 season and won 5 games. Still, the time he missed would've placed him in the top 10 of all time wins!

42 straight games Zimmerman has reached base now. That ties Tim Raines' Expos/Nats record.

Nah, they fly.

They take the train. It's faster to take a train to NYC than a plane by the time you go through all the airport BS on both ends. And you can get up and walk around easier on the train. Even with a chartered plane, it's easier logistically to train.

Exactly but some people said he benefited from playing in Cincinnati. He hits big boy bombs that go out in any ballpark.

We're only talking about going to places like NY and Philly.

dude you have to give up on the Kearns optimism.  :?  I'm convinced Kearns is what he is and never will be more than that.

Kearns nearly has a 1.000 OPS in the month of May.

Can you show me where you're getting these stats because I see .560 for the month of May coming in to today's game.

Yes, it would be. I'd prefer it if I was a player, though. I freaking hate planes.

True. They would have to forfeit the first couple of games of a west coast trip and then be tired as hell for the rest.

Ah, I see what happened. As I was going through MLB.com gameday, I clicked on Kearns but they gave me Willingham's stats. It eventually synced up.

St Louis was the team located the farthest west in the days of train-only travel. They said it took 30 hrs from NY.

A documentary on the Golden Age of Baseball was on FSN yesterday.

I don't think Kearns is over .600 even if you count today's game. I'm not at gameday so I don't see those stats.
