WHAT A GREAT START BY MARTIS.

ABSOLUTE GREAT GAME ALL AROUND ... OFFENSE / DEFENSE / PITCHING ... WHY THE freak CAN'T WE GET MORE OF THESE TYPES OF WIN.

You gotta leave the starters in the game.

This game would be in extra innings if it hadn't been for dialing up the long ball after an error by the Cardinals.

That was the best start by a Nats pitcher since, well... ever? I wasn't here for '05, but the only other starts that come to mind are Ramon Ortiz's 8 1/3 inning game in either '06 or '07, then Redding's 1 run CG against the Giants last year (which ended in a loss, so I think Martis takes that cake).

It's been an awfully long time since Debbi Taylor fell over a balcony railing.

 you'll fit right in here with comments like that, now you just need to say the Lerners are cheap :?

Bergmann's 8 perfect innings were up there.

I'm watching the Caps game, but I was switching back and forth during commercials. Anyways....outstanding start by Martis. Lord knows our bullpen needs a big rest.

Don't remember that one. Didn't he throw a CG last year while giving up like 4 HRs?

What about Lannan's game against the Mets? I think he had 11 K's. I can't remember how many innings he pitched.

see what happens when you let your starters pitch into the late innings

Yes, Shairon Martis is eligible for Rookie of the Year. Last year he pitched 20.2 innings; any pitcher with under 50 innings of experience can be nominated.

these refs are a disgrace. missing trips and takedowns on the Pens but calling everything on the Caps.

Erskine sucks

I don't think I've ever heard a pitcher say his own stuff was "excellent" before.  That's just awesome.

That last penalty was crap. They just let a blatent trip on one of the Caps go by right before that call.
