It's pretty sad that 9 games under .500 looks like a really good record to me :hang:

SF, I added the 2008 Nats.  I found it interesting that you have to go back to June 5th of last year to get the Nats record after 61 games.  Probably a combination of an earlier Opening Day and less rainouts.

Well the Indians are pretty much out of it. What a bunch of gutless cowards.

I really hope we can challenge the mets record at home. I have stayed away from Nats Park this year, but would certainly try to be at that game. I wonder if they would make a t-shirt tuesday to mark the event. If the team embraces it, maybe they'll get a nice bump in attendance from people wanting to witness history.

We also can put the other Beltway team's courage to the test.

All-time worst W-L records:

1. 1899 Cleveland Spiders (NL) 20-134 .130 *

2. 1935 Braves 38-115 .248

3. 1962 Mets 40-120 .250

4. 1904 Senators 38-113 .252

5. 1919 Athletics 36-104 .257

2009 NATIONALS (PROJECTED): 42-120 .258
6. 1898 Browns 39-111 .260

7. 2003 Tigers 43-119 .265 **

8. 1952 Pirates 42-112 .273

9. 1909 Senators 42-110 .276

10. 1942 Phillies 42-109 .278

*The Spiders started 8-30, fired their manager, then went 12-104 and lost 40 of their last 41.

** Three years later the Tigers went 95-67 and were in the World Series. Hmm...

This was not a good weekend at all for us, looks like the gap is narrowing. Cleveland/KC have some nice L streaks that are bringing them closer to us. Let's hope we return to form because I still want that double digit lead.

We lose a lot of games.  But when at Nats Park and get a homer, we get "Bustin' Loose".

For the last time, the two-centuries-ago owned-and-used-as-a-farm-by-another-team cleveland spiders do not friggin count.

Basketball ball was barely invented in America by a Canadian implant back then ;) :P

I bet the front office puts in a press release if we pass the mets

"dear nationals fans,

we're actually not the worst team in the history of the sport. . ."
