NBC has cut The Cape from thirteen episodes to ten. Not at all unexpected. It was obvious from the start that it was going to bomb.
God damn it. It was a truly fantastic show, perfectly written with excellent characters and actors well cast. It was as realistic as super hero stories get, yet written in a way that told a compelling story without super powers with a semi-believable villain that wasn't over the top. Said villain was expertly cast. It was just an all around good story that looked like it had legs to go on for a while without getting stale. But most importantly of all, it had Keith freaking David. And it had Keith David in a role that fit him well. He should have broken out years ago, but he's always been mitigated as a z-list actor, hell, not even that. Most of his work is voice-overs, even though his voice is phenomenal and unique. I've worshipped the ground he walks on since I first heard him as Goliath on Gargoyles as a kid. The only negative of the show so far is The Cape's kid. He's an annoying little brat who I cannot stand, and he needs to get a damn haircut.
I just hope they aren't lowering the episode order to give us more of The Event. For everything The Cape is doing right story wise, The Event is crapping all over. Easily one of the worst written sci-fi/fantasy stories on TV in a long, long, long time.
