Just bought Dead Rising 2 for the PS3, really looking forward to playing it. The first game was freaking awesome, exactly the type of zombie game I've been waiting for for decades. Hopefully the second kept the same feel, and from all the reviews I read it did.

The only video games we had when I was a kid was the crappy old Etch-a-Sketch.  :'(
That's not even a video game it's a cross between art supplies and a tv.

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 on Steam yesterday and today, $10 and change for the pair.  Great deal if you like zombie shootemups.  Up to 4-player co-op.  They are on sale individually as well for $6.79 apiece.

Yeah, I saw that. I may grab them just to try out customs.

Red Dead Redemption is getting DLC on October 26 with Undead Nightmare.

6 hours of a new story, new characters and new multiplayer content. All for 10 bucks.

I'm sold.

Well, I am moving up in the world and finally purchased the family a Wii.

For all you Wii video game peoples, is there a decent Mario game for the Wii you would recommend? If so, what and why? I am a huge Mario fan and think it is a bit of blasphemy to have a Nintendo system and not a Mario game of some sort.

Mario Kart Wii, Super Paper Mario, and both Mario Galaxies are excellent. I also highly recommend Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the Gamecube.

New Super Mario Bros is a bit more like the original 2D platformers of NES and SNES, but paper Mario and Mario galaxy are good too.  I remember a group complaining that if you looked at the "sparkle" effect on the letters on the box, they were under the letters "U R M R G A Y"  it's a nintendo plot to turn kids gay :smh:

Just like Disneys plot to put as much subtle yet sexual images in their movies so they can laugh when kids lose their innocence!

I got Fallout New Vegas last week (not quite what FO3 was but still good) and I recently received an older PC from my girlfriends parents. Also Purchased a ATI HD 5670 graphics card and an extra 2 GB memory from NewEgg today! Got a 2nd big job interview and my girlfriend just got a solid lead for a law clerk job this summer. Sorry if I'm rambling, but it's been a good week.

So, any recommendations for PC games I should look into? Prefarably something older (cheap) that I missed out on during my hiatus from PC gaming.

There's one game that is so great it warrants its own thread about it ;)

But I'll also echo what Chief said, at least for ME1.  I played it on the Xbox360, so I can't say how great it is on PC, but it is definitely a great story, IMO.

I actually might get it for PC as well if it is cheap now.

Need a good PS3 game.

Kind of burned out on sports games... so I want something that I'm going to be able to skin my teeth into.

I have Red Dead, so I'll probably keep that, at least through the zombie expansion... but I'm itching for a game that's going to take me 50+ hours to complete, not a 15-20 hour game.

Any suggestions?

Mass Effect 1 or 2

Mass Effect 1 could last around 50-60 hours. Mass Effect 2 could last around 38. At least thats what it seemed when I played 2 and did everything.

I prefer 2 to 1 though, since its more flexible to the user. Both are great games.

or you could get wow... cause you know... it takes a long ass time to level in MMO's!!!!!

I was going to suggest that too ;)

Did you play the ME's on PC or Xbox?  I'm curious to how they are on PC now.

Actually, did they ever release ME1 on PS3, since that's what Linty wanted?

I played both on Xbox. I believe Chief played them on PC though. From a google search I couldn't see ME1 on PS3 but ME2 is.

The PC version of ME1 is widely regarded as being better due to the fact that it was released some time after the Xbox version (fewer bugs) and given a proper PC treatment by a third-party studio hired by Bioware specifically for the job.  ME2 on the PC is a great game as well, but as it released simultaneously with the Xbox version it's much more obviously a straight up console port, with very little to set them apart.

I wasn't aware that ME1 was never released for the PS3 - whoops.

@cmdterps - I actually got 50+ hours out of both games.  But then I'm also a very thorough completionist.  All the DLC for the second game would probably add a solid ~10 hours extra, too.
