Michael O'Connor, LHP (2-2, 2.89)
O'Connor will face the Astros for the first time in his career. O'Connor had another quality start, going six innings and giving up two runs on six hits against the Orioles last Friday. He struck out five and walked three. It was the first time he faced the Orioles, the team he idolized as a kid growing up in Ellicott City, Md., just 13 miles from Orioles Park.

VS.

Roy Oswalt, RHP (5-3, 3.57)
Oswalt allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings on May 19, taking a no-decision in a game the Astros came from behind to win. Oswalt yielded a season-high 11 hits but was pleased with his command. He also toyed with a split-fingered fastball and was satisfied with the results. He is likely to use that pitch more in the future. Oswalt faced the Nationals at Minute Maid Park in his second start on April 8, allowing five runs over 6 1/3 in a no-decision.

If O'Connor is on tonight we should be in for a good game.

I'm ready for this one...Oswalt on the mound.  Should be yet another low scoring battle of attrition.

I'm about tired already of the Clayton batting 2nd experiment.  There's no place you can put this guy to hide him.

Looking at the lineup, Jose Guillen is currently batting a Guzman-like .215.

And this is the player that wants a contract extension.

It's a blessing in disguise.  Now we don't have to worry about giving him millions of dollars and wondering whether he'll put up numbers or just !@#$% a lot like he has been.  This way we can either resign him for little money, or just let him walk and use the money saved to develop the farm.

Yeah but he makes upu for it with his rbi's and he's of our most clutch hitters.

I'm glad you left out a word, because otherwise you would've said something really silly.  Guillen clutch?  Please!

A sac fly here and there is hardly clutch.

I can think of two things.  One, they hope he'll get better pitches to hit, sandwiched between Soriano and Vidro.  Also, getting him out of 8 may improve that slot some, so Soriano actually has a runner on base once in a while.

But generally, you stack your best OBP players at the top.  I'd bat him 8th.

According to baseball prospectus, Adam Everett is the best fielding shortstop in baseball.

Because we don't have a manager.  Soriano leads the team in steals, so if he gets on, he can move into scoring position.  That gives 3 batters to hit him in.  Clayton is NOT someone who can do it. Guillen, Zimmerman, Jackson all should be ahead of Clayton in the lineup.

Except that Guillen actually has a lower batting average.

well don't worry about Guillen...he's out of the game already.  Apparently he's re-injured himself somehow.

Guillen left and replaced by Byrd.  Is he injured?  The Nats have a winning record since we started playing for Kenz aFan's mom May 17.

Oh that's just great. One of our cluttch power hitter out. This is really going to reflect on our offense. Guillen tuffen up, we need you out there.
