Well the 1% happened...It seems as though our source was correct. The Nats had been and always were the highest offer on the table...until today. There are a few reports about specific numbers, I won't go through the list, but it looks as though we were right and it took a Yankee swoop in at midnight to change it from happening. We have some off the record stuff that would make your skin crawl even further....lets just leave it at...another shoe will soon be dropping. I do take some pride that our guy was right from the start, hopefully you guys see it that way as we have been told by more than 1 name you would recognize, we were not off the mark. Anyway, we are all going to cry in out collective beers at

That's how I saw it. You never claimed to have the inside scoop on what the Yankees did, and frankly, I think the Nats were taken for a ride. They were kept in the game because Boras never mentioned the Yankees, and no one leaked the Yankee offer to the media. So the Nats hiked the price and then they bailed on them.

I don't think the Nats upped any offer. I have some poop that can't be released, combined with what I have seen everywhere that all the deals were pretty much a take em and leave em...except of course for the Yanks

What is your problem ... did anyone have the yankees swooping in at the last minute other than the yankees themselves? Jeff, et.al, came on here willingly and were a vocal advocate all along for the Nats cause -- Why is it necessary to be such a rude jerk?

I don't think they were full of crap. They just said the Nats had the highest offer on the table. It appears as if they did at that time, while all of the major contenders (Red Sox, Angels, O's) weren't close enough to a deal.

I give them a world of credit for seemingly getting good info, relatively speaking. The rest of the media was just all over the place and you couldn't really take them seriously.

Great quotes from the o's fans. I don't blame them. This was a big FU to the hometown fan base. It also seems that Tex may have wanted to flip off the BoSox for what they did when he was originally drafted. I didn't expect to get him. But the fact that he went to the Yankees for the same money he may have gotten from the O's really shows that he didn't care much about being near home or that his Dad is an o's season ticket holder.

The Nats should have only been a dark horse anyway and only if he was offered silly money.

I can't begrudge him his money or that he wanted to play for the Yanks. This is a much bigger sting for the o's fans.

It has nothing to do with the Yankees. You don't find it the least bit pretentious to post online that the Nats have a 99% chance of getting Teix like it was solid gold when really, not even they had the time of day? If I did that on the NQ none of you would ever forgive me. Besides, it's pretty obvious he had no interest in coming here, especially based off what happened today.

Also, my apologies I don't get down on my knees before anyone who comes on here and says they have "insider" info.

No, I don't think it's pretentious ... I believe that he was optimistic about our chances. I don't believe he made any of it up just to jerk us around and I believe you're an insufferable bore.

I believe I had it at 50% Nats 50% Yankees. I think I was slightly off on the dollar amount. I had them pegged at 300 mil.
