not to be typecast/typical hammondsnats, but the angels have dropped out and the red sox - who are most likely going to land teix - are staying put with their offer.  THIS IS THE TIME when the o's or nats need to step up and give him that blowout, huge offer if they really want him.  if not we'll see teix choose on the sawx monday/tuesday giving douchebag red sawx fans a merry christmas.  god i hate boston.

p.s. panatsfan love the new avatar.  suisham is very unclutch and has missed 10 FG'S THIS SEASON!!! A JOKE!

Does anyone believe we are officially out? Buster Olney hasn't exactly been right often lately.
I take what he says with a grain of salt.

Well according to some "sources" we have already made a 8 year $200 million offer. And the whole thing about the Red Sox still being in it might be media hype to try and keep people paying attention. A bidding war between the Nationals and Orioles just isn't as interesting as one between the Red Sox and Yankees. Notice how the Yankees have yet to show any sign but the media keeps saying not to count them out. It wouldn't have taken this long for Tex to sign if the best offer had come from a team with a winning record. There is something he is debating or Boras wants to try and upstage Jesus just like he did with the World Series a couple years ago.

rumors swirling around that the yanks are set to announce a 3-year deal tomorrow or tuesday.  this would force the sawx to up their offer on teix (unless there is a better one already on the table).

yep. Manny to the Yanks will make for one hell of a circus.  I hate the Sox/Yanks "rivalry" but even I'm intrigued by this development.

Manny to the Yanks would make me laugh. And then I'd pencil in someone from the rest of the league for yet another World Series win over the AL East Payrolls.

If the Yanks sign Manny, this will be rediculous, then the sox get Tex. They need a cap or something on free agent signings. The yankees will be ridiculous...

I want this stuff to end with us on top.

Not necessarily. If CC reached his peak last year (which he obviously did), and if AJ gets hurt or is mediocre, and if Manny starts to decline over the three years, they'll be the same overpaid bunch of losing egos they always are. The Yankees' problem is they catch guys at the top of their game, fling money at them, and then watch them recede away from the top of their games. Think Johnny Damon, Bobby Abreu, Jason Giambi...

maybe the sox look @ manny to ny and are fine with it as long as the yanks don't get teix.  that would leave nats vs. o's.

but of course i highly doubt that would happen and he ends up in boston.

Where does everyone put our odds as of today?

I say we have a 30% chance
Red Sox 50%
Orioles 15%
Yankees 5%

With the Yanks going after Manny, I feel their whole presence in the Teix Sweepstakes is just to put pressure on teams to drive up the price so either the Red Sox completely overspend or some other team outspends the Red Sox. The whole situation reeks of a scheme like that. They might throw some offer on the table, but will it be enough to land Teix, especially if he really wants to be close to MD/VA? I don't know. The Yanks and Sox are the two whorehouses of the MLB, no doubt attempting to try and buy another championship in 2009. Teix signing with any other team other than those two would send a fantastic, positive message to the sport.

The O's are on the fringe of dropout. They'll stay in it in hopes that Teix is more interested in a warehouse than what actually goes on in Camden Yards, but really I think they are all out done.

Angels have dropped out.

Right now, I believe it's really down to the Sox and Nats. If the Nats weren't still in this thing or Teix definitely had no interest, Teix would of signed with the Red Sox two weeks ago, hands down. Something is perking his interest to have this drag out so close to Christmas, the time he said he wanted a deal done.

I still predict by 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday) he makes a decision. The Magic 8 Ball said so.

Speak for yourself, Scrooge. ;) My posting was pretty high spirited considering I still don't think he is coming to DC.

This whole Tex thing is starting to resemble a speculative bubble driven by highly leveraged subprime assets.  Maybe the Yankees will need a bailout next year once they have a billion dollars in new contracts and don't make the playoffs.

Exactly.

Are you guys spelling "Boras" wrong on purpose? If so, why "Boros"?

It should always be spelled to reflect reality:  BORA$$

I think Ted Lerner is PISSED OFF with the way MLB screwed him out of Crow
Reports are that he was told to stay around slot money. He is sick of playing by their rules.

I see him going above Jimbo's head and just saying I don't care what it costs, just get him.
I agree with others. If they Red Sox have the best offer, you would have thought that he'd sign by now. Boras playing games, could really hurt.

I think either the Nats or O's have a great offer on the table, and Tex probably doesn't want to take it. The Players union will crap a brick if he doesn't take it though.

I think the fact that the FO is saying they don't expect us to get him, means that we have a huge offer and he hasn't taken it yet. They think we are being used to drive up the price.

Either way, I see Ted Lerner being pissed and getting at least Dunn for us.

No one really knows anything and those with power (presumably ESPN) are spewing drivel to try and manipulate a "more desired" outcome.

I'm getting some bad feelings about Dunn. I mean, if that OBP and all that is killer, why the hell isn't there much action on his front? Shouldn't teams be knocking on his door, especially teams not in the Teix hunt?
