I have no problem with someone thinking a team is crap or mocking a team that is crap. But the attitude that good players should only play for certain teams is bullcrap. And unfortunately, that is not only the way that certain fans act, but it is the clear, emphatic, and regularly-stated stance of the entire ESPN franchise.

Good point. I don't approve of that.

But we've pointed and laughed at the Orioles, so I expect fans of other teams to do nothing but the same to us.

Fantastic. Now I won't feel quite as slighted when Tex goes to Boston.

Edit: This just says, "Look for the Nats . . ." Same thing we've always heard about Dunn. It doesnt even suggest that anyone in our front office is scouting him.

but if we get Dunn, i would be happy we got a power bat, but i would also want us to at least go out and get something else like maybe a Pitcher, starter or reliever, and maybe a second baseman

I mean crap just saying, compensate for the money we threw at Tex

You mean like: get Dunn, Hudson, a veteran arm, and then sign Strasburg prior prior to the draft? Sounds like a legitimate plan to me. Seriously, even if it is some other combination, when you are a buyer in a buyers' market, not being agressive to get as many pieces as you can for a good price is inexcusable.

I agree with this.

if we don't get Tex, I expect the Nats to be aggressive on no less than 3 significant players.

It also seems clear that Boras would want an opt-out clause for Tex. Many teams would say no. But I don't see an issue with that. If Tex wants an out after 3 years if he feels he can get more or if the team isn't improving, that would be fine by me. Shame on the team for not improving in three years after acquiring a 20M a year player. And in the mean time, we would have a great player for a fair price. If it takes that to sign him fine. I actually prefer that to a no trade clause.

Ladson was talking about us going after Fuentes on the radio. When did this come about? I don't recall seeing anything else about us being interested in Fuentes.
