Do I think we're going to get Teixeira?  No our owners are cheap dicks.  But at the same time for now we're rumored to be involved in the sweepstakes and it's fun to dream.  Just like Sportsfan dreams of Bernadina being a major contributor. 

While I'm not going to dump a bucket of cold water on your dream it's a bit silly and pathetic if we become the types that look forward to rumors about acquiring talent in the offseason yet continue to be cheap and lose more games than we win.

Just like i dream of a Nats-O's world series.  Just like spidernat dreams of ... spiders.

And no one here really said anything about us saying CC because rumors havent been floating around that were ready to offer him a 200m 10 yr contract...

The light im talking about is just the belief and excitement, I get atleast, from thoughts of rumors and if theyre true. Sure they go to my head and I start believing my own bullcrap just like our friend Buster Olney, I'd just rather see to improve that be negative all the time and look at the bright side of things.

I just figured the President of the team coming out and saying that these rumors are wrong and that we shouldn't have unrealistic expectations would be enough for people to cease with the Teixeira dreams.

This is the only time we have to be optimistic; hope springs eternal, but with what we take to spring training its pretty much gone by then. Right now we have a shot at a super star. We probably will end up starting Willingham at first base, but for now we at least have some hope.

that is EXACTLY what YOU do with any player not named Flores or Bernadina if they so happen to go 0-4 for one game.  in fact, you are worse about knee-jerk reactions to small sample-size numbers than ANY person who has ever posted on this message board.  your opinion on a player not named Flores or Bernadina changes on a pitch-by-pitch basis. but you put Flores and Bernadina (aka Brandon Watson, version 3.0) on a pedestal, while every other player the Nationals have is either a savior or a worthless piece of crap depending on whether the last pitch they saw was a ball or a strike.

This. I don't know how many times this year Steven Shell was a "bum" for throwing a ball in the dirt, John Lannan was a "bum" for issuing a fourth-inning walk with no outs, or Lastings Milledge deserved to be sent to AAA for striking out.

It should be mentioned here that I probably give preferential treatment to players I consider "favorites," including Lannan and Martis. But I try not to let it interfere with my making sense.

This is interesting. This could explain why sources have leaked that the Nats are "interested" in signing a FA the likes of Teixeira. But then it doesn't make sense why Kasten didn't wait a few more days to neutralize the excitement. He should've waited until people were fooled into ponying up the dough before coming clean.

I may dog a player for swinging at the first pitch or a pitcher for giving up 2-out runs but that doesn't mean I hate that player completely (well in some cases I do, i.e. Tim Redding). Completely different.

All plausible scenarios. Who knows? Maybe Kasten prefers Dunn, but could re-enter the Tex arena if Dunn goes elsewhere. I wouldn't read to much into anything a GM or agent says at this point.

Youk is a natural third baseman, with a degenerative hip Lowell may be done. He also adds depth at DH if Pappi goes down.
