Milledge: 59 RBIs in 508 ABs.

Flores: 59 RBIs in 301 ABs.

 :shock:  :worship:

RBIs = useless statistic

Who here would love to add Matt Holliday and Adrian Gonzalez to our lineup next season?

RBIs = useless statistic

 :rofl:  sounds like a direct quote from a book.

No way. RBIs are a great measure of a player's ability to get hits in crucial situations and to drive in runs.

that's so sad that a pair of 23 year olds who have missed significant time lead a team in rbi's and it's not even 60 yet.  go get another bat lerner family!!!

It's supposed to lend a measure of baseball knowledge to say that sort of thing though. Just like it's become trendy for people to say "BA is not a good way to measure a player. OBP is much more important".  :rofl:

What if to acquire those two bats you had to give up Burgess, Marrero, Detwiler, Wilems, whoever it is we get with the number 1 draft pick and one of either Lannan or Balester?

Note that the dent to the MLB roster would be minimal.

RBIs are iffy, depends if Milledge had as many opportunities with a man on base than Flores did

I know what you mean. Both BA and RBIs are important to me. OBP is nice but like I have said countless times, walks do not produce runs, hits do. Just watch the 3 games we just played against the Padres to see what I'm talking about.

lol what do you mean? Seriously... a single with a guy on second vs. a single with no one on doesn't necessarily mean that the individual player is better.

Not only that, it's not like walks were not recognized as important in previous eras.

Some guys clearly have a difficult time driving runs in (see Jose Vidro). Whatever dude, I was just commenting on the tired pretentious phrase that is so often used to "flex" a degree of baseball acumen.

RISP stats

Milledge 31/129 (.240), 7 Doubles, 0 Triples, 1 HR, 42 RBIs, 14 BBs, 27 Ks

Flores 34/92 (.370) 7 Doubles, 0 Triples, 5 HRs, 55 RBIs, 7 BBs, 27 Ks

That's almost a laughable comparison. Flores is one of the best hitters in baseball with RISP.

Good old Shell. freaking bum.  :?

Horrible pitch. Uggla was barely touching his breaking ball so he decides to throw the only thing Uggla can hit (fastball) right down the middle.  :roll:

No way.

I knew some of you would react that way. I would do it in a heartbeat. It would only mean getting rid of one player that is currently contributing to the team. Besides, there is no guarantee that those prospects will work out when all is said and done.

As milledge's biggest supporter on here, yeah he definitely needs to get better in driving runs in with RISP.  That's for sure.

Those are our best prospects. We'd be decimated without most of those guys.

It would also depend on how long we had A-Gon and Holliday for too though.

One or the other, but probably not both.
