I expect another loss, but would love to see a repeat performance by Balester.

If you like pitching, Peavy's a great one to watch. I'm sure the ratings will be bad, but the others games should be even worse.

How convenient. The Pads are quite intent on tanking. I don't think we can compete with them and the Mariners. They take purposely losing to a whole new level.

Quote
WASHINGTON -- Padres pitcher Jake Peavy was scratched from his start on Friday against the Washington Nationals so he could fly to San Diego early in the day to be with his wife, Katie, who was in labor with the couple's third child.

Rookie Dirk Hayhurst (0-2, 8.49 ERA) replaced Peavy on Friday for the first game of a three-game series against Washington at Nationals Park.

The Peavy's were expecting a boy. The couple already has two boys: Jacob (7) and Wyatt (4).

Peavy (9-11, 2.77 ERA) isn't expected to miss more than one start, and will likely rejoin the Padres when they begin a three-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Peavy is the defending National League Cy Young Award winner.

yeah because going to be with your wife on the day she gives birth = "purposely losing".

I was half joking but that still doesn't mean SD and Seattle aren't pathetic in their blatant attempts to get the #1 pick.

At least we put out an effort most nights and try to win.

Oh well.  Dustin Ackley or Grant Green will look good in the red and white with the gold and navy trim.

If the Padres look like they are intentionally losing, we TRUMP THEM:
I say we WALK the bases LOADED.
THEN, we bring in SCREECH to pitch...

who throws an INTENTIONAL WALK to LOSE THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

anybody see the game preview that focused on Dukes playing injured? i knew he was, he's always grimacing. that's even more impressive that he's dominating like this and he's not even at 100%.

anyways, about the game tomorrow...WHEN IS THE EARLIEST YOU CAN ENTER THE PARK?

Center Field gates will open 2½ hours prior to the start of the game, allowing fans into the Center Field stands and concourse areas to take in the Nationals' and visitors' batting practice.

1½ hours prior to the start of the game all other gates and areas of the park will open.

Last i went, they had crappy merchandise as in, Zimmerman and Milledge shirts, which are awesome of the bunch but then, they still have Johnson, Kearns, and Cordero shirts. I mean yea its cool to get one of them, but why not put some out that our currently playing and not injured.

Only way you can get shirts from the other players are on the website, ima get a Milledge or Dukes one online sometime. But what do you know, they might throw in some dukes shirts, didnt see last time though. crap i even saw a Lopez shirt.
