Burrell was the worst fielding starting LF in baseball last year

Correct, in fact he is considered to be measurably worse than Dunn.

Unreal.  Dunn is nowhere near Tex's abilities and you'd be willing to get him at around $15 MM (which is what he'll get, minimally)?  I'd much rather have Tex at $25MM/per rather than Dunn at $15MM/per.  Dunn makes no sense for this team long term.

That's why you sign Tex to an 8 year deal, Dunn to 3 years max.

This was lifted from another board so I don't know if it's accurate or not but I suspect it is;
Hey Minty Fresh, need help deciphering the numbers?  :ballbat:

Dunn looks to be comparable to Tex against RHP, which he'll face 70% of the time, but worse against LHP.

How does he compare on defense?

I'd love some assistance deciphering numbers as long as you accept my offer of helping you watch a baseball game.

I could punt and say that I've never seen Dunn play first, and the stats have a very small sample size, etc. etc.

Kory Casto is a pretty good defender at first base. let's just make him the starter.

Outside of being a slow runner what have you contributed to the site?

I've contributed absolutely nothing.  you?

what's your point in asking this, by the way, and how exactly does it relate to the Nats needing to desperately improve the worst offense in baseball?

and what does my running have to do with anything?

I's still rather overspend on Manny for three years than get average dollar for Dunn.  Manny produces unlike anyone in the game right now 9when motivated) and Willingham can play 1st.

Why the hard-on for Dunn?

there is none.  he just happens to be the best bat on the market that is *capable* of playing 1B.

I won't complain if we get Manny.

I just want someone who can *reliably* hit more than 14 HRs while batting cleanup.  that's all.

it can be Manny, if can be Dunn, if can be someone we trade for, I don't much care. the Nats seem to prefer getting a left-hander though, which brings us back to Dunn time and time again.

but going into 2009 with Casto/Belliard as our 1B combo after NJ takes his yearly vacation is unacceptable.

not professionally.  I stopped playing in high school.  big whoop.

I'm still not seeing your point.  and I'm still not seeing what any of this has to do with the Nats Offense.

It has nothing to do with Nats offense and has everything to do with, "dealing with the frustration in a humorous fashion," which is what the thread calls for.

hey, I'm trying to do that. hence my Kory Casto comment.  naturally, it was sarcastic, but it was supposed to be.

not my fault blue got his panties twisted about it.
