Return of the Fanatic!!!!!

Well...since I'm sure all of you who were here last season missed me, I'M BACK!!! Remember all those great mood swings of being like "WE'RE GONNA WIN THE WORLD SERIES" to "THE NATS HURT MY SOUL" lol, those were some great moments. But I assure you all, I have done some major growing up since then. No more random rants and I'll try to be as educated and thought provoking as possible (like Kenzafan). I turned eighteen (on Valentine's Day!!) so I am now a legal adult. I've applied to all my college's and so far I've been accepted into George Mason University. Now my thoughts on the happenings of baseball over the last few months...

1.) I think it's absolutlely disgusting what the D.C. Council is doing to the Nationals, instead of taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity they are slowly destroying what could become a great franchise

2.) The fact that we still do not have an owner, I have to honestly say suprises me. I thought for sure we would have an owner before the beginning of the new season but I guess I was just being naive.

3.) Alfonso Soriano needs to get over himself. He is not THAT good of a player, he demanded 12 million and lost. Now, it seems he is trying to take his anger out on the team by not moving to the outfield. I hope what happens is that Vidro returns healthy and better than ever and we trade Soriano for some pitching. Although, I highly doubt this will be the case.

4.) The situation we are facing with our pitchers is horrendous. With Livan Hernandez, John Patterson, and Brian Lawrence on deck, I thought for sure we would be able to fill the last two gaps easily. But now that Brian Lawrence is out, I honestly don't know who is going to be our 3rd, 4th, or 5th starters. Except, I sort of feel like it's going to be Armas, Drese, Astacio, in that order. Which is not too bad, but it's not good either.

5.) The acquisition of Astacio is a sign of how desperate our team really is. However, I'm actually glad our off-season turned out. I feel like our bench has improved and that our bull pen is solid as ever. The lack of siginificant gains during off-season has allowed to enter another season with very low expectations from everyone. No matter the outcome of the season, whether we do good or flounder like most people expect, it will all be understandable due to our circumstances. The only result that won't be acceptable is finishing with a worse record than the Marlins. I just hope none of our players' get injured during the WBC. I also believe that Christian Guzman will have a much better season than last year.

If I was Frank Robinson, here is how I would have my starting Line Up:

CF Marlon Byrd
3B Ryan Zimmerman
1B Nick Johnson
RF Jose Guillen
2B Vidro/Soriano
LF Ryan Church
SS Christian Guzman
C Brian Schneider
P Livan Hernandez

That's all I have to say for now, I look forward to a great season with the Nats, win or lose, and I look forward to many great "gameday chats" and I believe I am now no longer a rookie!!
