Cuban lunch manana
« on: September 05, 2007, 08:56:51 pm »
Hi guys--

Sorry, I've not been online much this week...haven't had time to sneeze.  Anyways, nothing so silly as work shall interfere with roast pork and plantains, so hopefully we are still on for tomorrow.  Anyways, we will be there with bells on at the appointed time and place (I'll have to flip through old posts to check on both).  I'm (sort of) watching the game right now, but between having work I've brought home and a sick cat barfing all over, I'm staying pretty much off line...hope to see everyone tomorrow.

Alright, that's "La Limena" in Rockville MD at 12:30, Thursday 06 September.  Aside from the various people who have discussed this already, any Nats (or general baseball) fans (except Phillies, Mets, or Braves) who happen to be nearby are most welcome!

Aww, Tom's going too!  That's going to be so much fun.  I have a little one to pick up at noon from preschool, so enjoy something yummy for me.

Dan's working from home today and he just saw this thread and where you guys are going.  He works up in Rockville (Shady Grove area) and was bummed to see that he'll miss out on your lunch.  I was surprised when he said that if he were working up there today, he'd join you!  He's a pretty quiet guy, so you all have made a great impression on him.

Hey Kim-
Just got back from lunch with the boys about half an hour ago. We had a really nice time. I work near Shady Grove, too! Dan could have ridden with me if he was at work and wanted to go. We had plenty of room at our table for other wandering Nats fans! Anyway, I think everyone had a nice time.

Ellen

If you're sleepy Eric must be snoozing under his desk!

Yes, I'd have to say his plate was the winner in the "largest biomass" category!  But nospin was showing he had staying power, keeping up a steady pace through dessert after the rest of us had fallen by the wayside.

Baseball lunches should be a regular thing next season.  The economy can take it (or not)  ;)

Now that's an awesome idea!!!  I think this would be especially fun during the off-season when there isn't anything major going on.  It could become the Nats Fan Lunch Bunch!   :icon_mrgreen:

Sounds like fun! The local SABR chapter has something similar, called hot stove dinners.

Sorry, I should have said. It's the Society for American Baseball Research. There's a local chapter that reportedly has been asked to host the organization's national convention here in 2009.

Here's a link to the national site:
