I don't get it.   Was there anything Soto could have done here that would not have got him out?   Any path back to base would have interfered.   If he had slid, then it would have probably had a worse result for the fielder.

Brings to mind the one involving the White Sox recently

Soto checks the Angels SS to block him from catching an infield fly, gets called out, and Boone gets ejected.

This is the stupidest rule in baseball. The hitter is already out because of infield fly rule. Why does he also need to have leeway to catch the ball?

If the ball isn't caught, the runners can take off without tagging up even if the infield fly rule is called.   I think a simple tweak to the rule calling the hitter out and the ball dead in case of interference would suffice here if it is clearly incidental.   Otherwise, this just left Soto with no where to go.

It appears the fielder misjudged the ball a little and the fielder had to go back at the last second causing the contact.

Huge day for Soto. two home runs including one in the 9th to put the Yankees ahead.

Judge another home run last night.

Soto and Judge are as dangerous as Ruth/Gehrig, Mantle/Maris 1961.

Saw that Soto winning home run. He crushed that off a guy who throws 100. He’s already rich and is going to be filthy rich after this season.

I watched part of the Giants/Yankees series and Soto and Judge have to be the most impressive 1-2 punch I've seen in years.

Srsly...and then there's the bridesmaid, Stanton.
